Hello Diggers -
On Saturday last week I had the best relic hunting day in about 3 years ; I was blessed to recover a Federal Staff Officer Coat button and my first early Virginia 1 piece Coat in beautiful condition . The VA really cleaned up well with just a dab of aluminum jelly then sealed with dab of Vaseline .
I also dug 3 flat buttons, piece of melted lead, dropped Confederate Merrill bullet and a crushed thimble.
What is really surprising about this site in N Virginia is we’ve been hunting this site for about 3 years -we’ve pounded this iron patch where a period CW era house once stood.
My conclusion;
I recently updated the firmware on the Deus2 ti 3.02 and learned this week on the XP forum that the latest update does indeed improve iron separation in iron rich sites so this must be the reason we never saw these targets before. I’m using the General Program.
Lesson learned;
Make sure you’re always updating your software for your detector to maximize performance in the field, happy hunting
