Xp Deus finds me a gold coin....then a second gold in 2 days

I was one of the mates on the UK hunt with CTTODD. our first afternoon I hit a 1485 Hammered and some little do dads. We hit several places and after walking across the road
I got a solid 61 and out comes this gold coin. I just stood there in amazement. I yelled at Todd to verify my find. It was a stater. A few minutes later I hit another piece of gold, not sure what it was I showed Todd and we came up with the conclusion it was "modern" and only gold plated, so in the pouch it went. At lunch we showed our finds with our guide. He wasn't fimlure withe the stater I had. The other gold piece was dismissed as Victorian period. The next day, I hit another gold stater, more of a common one. (If there is such a thing for finding gold coins) at lunch I turned it over to the guide and was informed that my first one was the oldest coin found by anyone in the club. It dated to 175 BC.

So, 3 pieces of gold in two days with the Deus. I was impressed to say the least. I will be going back and guess what machine is going with me?

Really stunning finds, those old Celtic staters realyl do get the old ticker pumping fast, that real early one is rare as you have mention especially that early, the earliest ones that i have found have been 55BC Whaddom Chase variation.

Very well done :clapping:

Absolutely stunning!!!!!!! You must be in heaven; I would be! Thank you for posting and showing us this wonderful bit of history that's now in your care!

wound you mind sharing what settings you used over there? Frequency and all... i am hoping to go there this fall so any input would be helpful.
thanks and CONGRATS !!! i think i would need the heart attack paddles if i saw a stater in the hole ...

Thats awesome. I found a chunk from a gold plated thimble on one of the hoard fields. I was about to crap my pants when I seen the yellow in the hole. Then the big let down haha.

How deep had the staters been when you found them ???

WOW sort of sums it up . . . . . what a find let alone three . . . . . . hope you let Todd touch them and then tell it was not Colonial so he shouldn't be interested in them

Bet you can't wait to head back and dig some more

That is exactly the same depth that i have found mine at including my 1/4 staters which suprised me really,as not only are they much smaller and lighter which would make think that they would drop at a lower rate over the time duration that they had been in the ground.

i don't know about u guy but turning over my gold findings would really make me sad … i'd say I'm a honest guy 99% of the time butt !!!!! just saying it would be hard….. LOL great finds

Todd was with me for two of the gold finds. He was the first person to see them after they left the ground. I think he may change his motto to "Dig Roman or go home."
