Simple detector to operate even for a beginner and it is not hard at all to adjust to your liking, the maker really tried to make this detector simple as possible to operate.:detecting:

How many 'programs' can one save without disturbing the original ones?

Zero, but you can make one or all of the 9 preset programs to your liking, rename them and then save them, when you are finished adjusting. You can also reset the program you made, to the factory preset state it was before you made any chances to it, so you can experiment without any worries.

The two beginners programs..BASIC 1 and BASIC 2 are perfect candidates to modify, rename and hold your personal programs.

I actually modified every program to up the Disc and placed an "XX" at the end of the original name.

I'm also accumulating a collection of various programs from the UK websites..I'm up to about 5 or 6 right now.

A word of caution...do not modify anything unless you understand exactly what will happen (I love doing that). Best is to study each parameter and then try it out in the real world.

Regards, Joe

I too, downloaded the manual and studied it. I do not think it will be all that confusing once you start pushing buttons and getting into the menu's. Reading something can sometimes be intimidating but doing the "hands-on" is a lot easier to understand.

Yes there is a page near the rear of the manual that shows the linkage of the menus to each other and how to navigate to them a few for each of the 3 down arrows at the bottom of the controlers screen. Farr right one is for GB and all metal and pinpointing hunting.

Left down arrow is to scroll down through the different programs to settle on which one you want then leave it in that one and go to the middle down arrow to make changes to them. Left down arrow is also for configuration and save/reset etc.

Middle one for all the rest just keep pushing and it scrolls round and round going down through all the programable items and then you see expert under the left most arrow on some of the items so that tells you there is adjustments that can be made for that item. It's so so intuitive and once you read a couple of times the different items in the manual it completely makes sense what each item will do for you and very simple after that. I think you may not have to make any changes sept frequency used and maybe tone change ranges choices.

The manual looks a bit complicated but once you have the Deus in your hands it all becomes much clearer.

The 9 pre-set programmes are the way to go until you feel your feet.

Many in the UK use GMP,Deus Fast, or GMAXX.

Deus fast recovery is like greased lightning, GMP for general use and GMAXX for depth on old pasture land.:cheers:Jerry.
