Xp deus questions..

I am currently about to purchase an xp deus and I am wondering if I need to get the 9 inch or 11 inch coil. I hunt all kinds of areas except beaches for relics and coins. I like depth and separation and I'm wondering if there is that much difference. I am also wondering should I go with the ws4 headphones for aftermarket use headphones or ws5?? Thanks in advance for your input.

For me, I use the 11" unless real trashy, then 9", but the 11" is no sloutch on seperation....

I use a set of Vance earmuffs, I like them better than the WS5. So I have the WS4 and the Vances....

I suggest you buy Andys book, in fact you do not need to wait for the Deus to get into the book, it is the best $20 you can spend.....

Your gonna love the Deus!

I would recommend the 11" coil and the WS4 phones. Later if you decide you will have other avenues for headphones if you choose.

If you hunt mostly smaller sites, not open fields, then I'd want the 9"
If you hunt mainly relics in large open areas, then I'd want the 11"
If you hunt mainly very deep coins in average trash I'd want the 11"
If you hunt mainly jewelry/coins in trashy areas I'd want the 9"
If you plan to buy another coil then get the 11" and buy the 9" later to save a few bucks.

I've had the WS4's. the Vance Muffs and the WS5's. I preferred the WS5's. The Vance Muffs were much better than the WS4's but the WS5's felt better and I thought sounded a little better. But then one cost $400 the other $150

I think each person has there own taste. I bought the unit with the 11" coil and WS4 backphones then complimented them with the Gray Ghost. I have been very happy.

I have both, I think if I was going to start new, I would definitely go with the 11" to start as you can find 9" coils in the used market from people who have upgraded to the 11 and are selling their 9's. You don't find the 11's used and the 9's get pretty reasonable on ebay etc......and I like the 11" way better.....

I use the 9'' coil as i find it suits my style of detecting on trashy roman sites, have used a 11'' coil but still drift back to the small one,its the ability to work in trashy ground better and also the depth is pretty good as well.

Headphones that i use are the WS5 full cup option, although the WS4 are very good, but most of my target can be either small or deep so i dont want to miss those deep feint signals and i feel the WS5 cut out external noise so much better.

One thing i will mention about headphones is during the summer when it really hot and sticky i use the XP wired backphones on all my other machines, the quality of sound that these produce for such a cheap price is amazing, infact i have found that they are much better than headhones cost many many times more, but i still drift back to using full cup ones when the cold weather arrives.

I always use the 9" and maybe it is because it is winter and the ground is wet or damp. The deus has to have the right GB and when you use very little disc it can become very noisy. The 9 is better for me at this point.

Agreed! I love love love the 9. I like to hunt in the trash.

I just hope XP lowers the price of accessories too like the unit itself so one can get a second coil for a better price!
