hi all,
those who have downloaded the new V3.0 before June 27th should download the latest version. xp had to do a bugfix,
OK, I've gotten a number of calls and E-mails on this and wanted to make sure I had the right information when posting something here.
The problem with the Internet is rumors get started very quickly and take on a life of their own . . . . and the mysterious 4KB larger file here was just such a rumor.
Yes, the file was 4KB larger but remember, the file you install on your computer and launch for the update is
NOT the V3.0 package. It is the conduit that connects with the XP servers and pulls down the V3.0 file to install on the control unit, coil(s) and headphone(s). Unless someone has figured out how to extract the V3.0 code from the unit and compare sizes, what was seen is a difference in the
INSTALLER file size. There were a few additions made to the file to address some installation instructions which were clarified hence the slightly larger file size . . . . the 4KB had nothing to do with "bugs" in V3.0.
There have been people reporting issues with the battery level indication not working properly - it goes from fully charged to dead in minutes . . . . in other words, it stays at fully charged for hours and then drops quickly to no charge. According to XP, this is not a bug . . . here is what they provided on that subject:
"Regarding the coil battery charge there is no bug. The customer should charge the coil after installing the 3.0. Then the processor will reprocess the charge curve from the maximum voltage as it will measure when the battery reaches the full charge. Again, it is not a bug."
So when you update the software, throw the coil (or all three components) on the charger and the issue will disappear. If you saw some of the posts where this was noted, recharging made the problem go away and this is why.
As far as any updates or revisions or patches, there is only one planned to address a navigation issue that was identified . . . no changes to what the software is doing. If you are not seeing an issue with the navigation (and if you are running the English version, probably aren't), then there is no need to install another version of 3.0 and lose any custom settings you may have created and saved.
Hopefully this answers the question of the mysterious 4KB increase in file size (which is not V3.0 but the installer) and any planned updates to the actual V3.0 package
Have a great 4th!
