XP ORX has impressive performance

I took out the ORX into my woods yesterday evening. I have not had time to go to a place where I may find some old coins. However, there was once a small civil war camp site I discovered on my place several years ago. Long story short, I have swung every machine I owned out there for the past several years. It was not until recently that I started to find small musket balls out there. The reason is because they were so deep and the newer high gain style units such as the anfibio which has an 11" coil, an equinox which has the 11" coil and I have a racer 2 with a 13" DD coil made by MGC labs.

The deepest little 36 caliber round ball was about 10 and 1/2 inches deep. Yesterday, with my new ORX with the 9" round HF coil I was detecting out there. I was in 30khz and in coin fast mode. I got a faint signal then switched it over into coin deep. The signal came in loud and clear so I started to dig. It was another little musket ball at about 10 inches as well.

That blew me away with it just being the 9" coil.

When I was a dealer back several years ago when the Deus hit the scene, I was told by my Whites distributor that the Deus was a fast machine but it did not get any good depth. I took him at his word and the fact that there was just not much information at the time on the XP detectors here in the USA. Boy what a big mistake that was. I wished I looked into the XP company more but I guess I kind of forgot about them.

With all of that out of the way, the other day when I received the ORX, the first thing that impressed me was how well made the little unit is. When I got it all together and took it out for the first time, I was blown away with how fast it was. I believe after yesterdays small hunt that this will become my favorite detector of all time. Here are a couple of pics from yesterday. You can see the little musket ball right above the end of the pin pointer in the hole. I also dug some other odd and end old shotgun brass and spent 22 bullets. A large modern caliber 44 size spent bullet. But the other little thing that impressed me was the 22 short spent casing. When I went over that shell casing the ORX sounded off like crazy. It is the coolest metal detector I believe I have ever owned.

Congrats! Deus is the deepest VLF detector on the market with a 9 inch coil....

big time
I couldn’t agree more. Very pleased with my xp orx
And glad I didn’t go in for the deus or deus lite

Hey thanks guys. yeah do not get me wrong, I would love to have the deus but at this time I do not see me needing one anytime soon.

The ORX is a awesome machine and I'm glad I got it. I like simple machines with simple settings and the ORX fits the bill. It's a deep seeker and handles my highly mineralized red Georgia clay dirt better than anything I've ever used.
