XS or ll or SE ???????

Hi all, Ive put my MXT & Beach Hunter up for sale & if nobody wants them here they will go on ebay...I just have a multipal choice QUESTION is there REALLY any DIFFERENCE between the three models ??? The only Minelabs I've owned are the GP Extreme & GP 3000 & there was no dis-cernable difference ... Are the Explorer series any different ??? I've noticed in posts that they have "recovery speed" etc. etc. What about the REAL world???? Is there any REAL difference??? I don't mind plucking down some extra cash IF the new SE is REALLY worth the extra bucks BUT I will be a NEW EXPLORER USER...Should I opt for a "cheapo" off ebay to "get the feel" or get the "new" SE ???? I realise that I'm probably looking at a pretty good "learning" curve so I know I'm probably looking at say 2-3 months before I get comfortable with what it's telling me...(With everybody's HELP" of course) My previous exp. includes Whites coinmaster ll TR, Whites Eagle ll SL, Whites goldmaster ll, Minelab GP Extreme & 3000, Whites MXT & beach hunter I.D....I'm not really a newbie but have been pretty much pre-occupied with prospecting for the last 20 years...All input will be greatly appreciated...Tom

I don't think you'll see any real difference between the three models (I have 2 XS's and an SE). The SE is a little faster as far as the screen update goes, but the depth on all three is basically the same. If you find the XS at a great price - go for it - otherwise get the SE. I like some of the XS features better than those on the SE (e.g. pinpoint mode).

With all your experience using detectors, you should learn the Explorer fairly quick. Just take your time and if possible find someone to detect with who owns a Explorer. Since your more than likely to use what ever you get i'd go with the SE, or maybe a new EX2. With all the Whites you have used the pinpointing on the SE would be more to your liking. Just my opinion.

Hi Tom, I sold my Explorer II on Ebay recently and updated to an SE, The pinpointing is certainly different from the EX II and it works well, however I never had any pinpointing problems with the EX II, I have found that the SE is a little more stable than MY EX II consequently I find I can up the sensitivity a little which gives me a little more depth, The SE recovers faster than the EX II but once again I never found recovery a problem with the EX II. My best advice is, if it's only a couple of hundred dollars difference between an EX II and and SE go for the SE and have the latest and greatest.
All the best.....Boony
