Xterra 305 tips

Sunday I went to a local small city park that I have hit several times. It has given me quite a bit of old coins back to the turn of the century. Today I decided to dig anything registering 20 or above on the meter especially if it gave any indication of a high tone or was more than 4" down. Came across one signal that would go 20-24-32 depending on which way you approached it. It showed up as 6" so I dug and up came a 1929 wheatie. Same thing happened a little later. Same type of signal and up came a 1927 wheatie. Also pulled a 63 Rosie. 305 users listen for just a scratch of a high tone no matter what the meter says. Best of luck!

Just have to love the Xterra 305.
What coil were you using ?
There aren't many of us. Everyone went with the 705, but they're good and I don't prospect.
Second year with mine.

Thanks for the tip.

Bruce,
I use the mid freq. DD. Absolutely love this coil. This park has a lot of trash and I get very good seperation with it along with great depth.

Nice Tip Bob.
You're right Bruce. The 305 doesn't get enough of a mention. It's a very underrated detector. I sure would like to see a lot more posts by more 305 uses. I know that there are a lot more of them out there than the posts on this forum would indicate.

my nephew has been hunting with me lately,11 yr old small for his age but big heart he likes hunting with me but was getting bored quick because I was running the v3i and he was running the Garrett pro pointer.Think I solved the issues I purchased a 305 x-terra.Hunted with it for about 30 minutes tonight in an area that is ranked #1 in the Trash I've been running the whites for a few yrs. so it was different but I know without a doubt the quality of minelab is outstanding and the finds will be posted as recovered.

Thanks for the tip as one can never know too much. Imagine the mineralization, depth and position of the target in the ground had a lot to do with. Hunted with one fellow that mastered a Sov. and he circled the target and if he just got one blip of a high coin he went for it and as a result some nice deep silver was had...
