Xterra 50 & Xterra 305 Comparisons

Well i just fired up an xterra 50 today at the park that i bought and will get into it later in the article.. I previously had an xterra 305 wich by the way is a very good detector. This little article is to give those folks some info on the 2 machines and there differences from what i saw and heard. Well lets start out with the xterra 305. It ids coins pretty well with the stock 7.5klhz coil. Its strengths are it hit quarters very well usually at 40 to 44s if i recal. Its also hits dimes very well at 36. As far as nickels it hits them so so with the stock 7.5klhz coil and better with the high frequency 9 inch concentric. As far as pennys its good and as far as pull tabs ok but better with 18.75klhz high frequency coil. Now for the money it is a very nice machine. One good thing is it has adjustable tones and good target stability. Now on to the Xterra 50 today i went to the park for about 4 hours. This park i pretty much cleaned out before. But it was to test out the xterra 50. now the differences the xterra 50 seems to hit pulltabs a bit more for some strange reason the xterra 305 with the stock coils. One thing i didnt necesarlly like is that the tones arent adjustable on the xterra 50 it has 4 tones. As far as quarters didnt find even one a bit strange. It was iding quarters at around 42 to 45. So my guess is the xterra 305 ids quarters a bit better and easyer because boy did i find manny with it . I also didnt find any nickels with the xterra 50 today wich was also a bit strange but perhaps there werent manny or it hits them better with the higher frequency coil like its brother the xterra 305. As far as pennys the Xterra 50 loves them and they hit at 33 to 36. As far as dimes go i did find some and they were reading at around 36. I also did find a small silver chain wich did surprise me because it was pretty deep dont remeber where it was reading. So i guess ill have to hit another park to see its reall ability for coins. All and all the xterra 50 is not bad . But i sure wouldnt mind another xterra 305. Sorry for the typing not my thing.

Went out today with the xterra 50 to another park to see how it would do there and wow did it shine. i pretty much strictly was hunting for quarters. I noticed they were iding at 45 and boy did i find plenty.I was finding them faster than i could dig. I was there for about 2 hours and 10 minutes and found 4 dollars in quarters and 8 dimes and one nickel. I also would acasionally hit a pulltab at greater depths reading a 45 as well. This xterra 50 is fantastic. It is equally as good as the xterra 305. I had the ground balance set at 3 and the sensitivity set to 18 from a max of 20. So far in 2 days i had found a silver chain that was deep and one 1944 wheat penny and over 5 dollars in change i think the xterra 50 turned out to be a fine detector.
