xterra 70 at the beach, why use beach mode?

ok the way I understand it if you put it in all metal, sensitivity as high as you can and put on auto track. Wouldnt that set the ground balance automatically to the beach sand , wet or dry? not for sure how to even put a 70 in beach mode. I dont seem to have any problems with falsing or finding deep targets wet or dry. the xterra 70 has always been very stable for me at the beach not in beach mode. I use the 5x10 hf coil always.

The way I understand it, the primary difference between regular tracking and Beach tracking is the speed of readjustment. Beach tracking updates itself more frequently than regular tracking mode. If what you've been doing works well, I'd keep doing it! HH Randy

to set in beach mode hold the ground balance button in for a few seconds or until you see a beach umbrella show on screen i believe it helps settle it down around the black sand (iron ) found on the salt beaches good luck Pat

I have tried beach hunting in both modes. I personally find that in beach mode I can adjust my sensitivity much higher than in normal treasure/coin mode. I can hunt around 25 to 28 with very little chatter in beach mode. In treasure/coin mode I must lover my sensitivity to eliminate the chatter. This is especially true in the wet sand. I haven't had a chance to use my 705 at the beach yet, but I feel that with tracking ground balance offset a lot of the chattering will be reduced with out lowering the sensitivity. HH TomB
