I just bought a used xterra 70 from a member on this form and it is a awesome machine is all i can say. I don't want to name the seller for privacy reasons, but the seller was A+. Fast, clean product, and easy to work with. However, I have a gold se and only plan to prospect for natural gold. I wan'ted to know if anyone has any pointers on prospecting. Such as, AM mode vs prospecting mode, or switching. Also do you leave it in factory settings? Is this correct if i set the iron mask to lv 0 then that is AM mode? I can't wait for school to get out so i can focus more time on prospecting. I live in Northern California and plan on hunting the Feather River and Butte Creek. I have been running along the river and on bed rock with my gold bug se (version 3) but have not found much just normal junk. Do you have any recomendations? I was thinking of working up the bank some to try my luck. Well any helpfull pointers would be great thanks Jess.

It's a sensitive machine with a small HF coil in Prospector Mode.
I recently ran across this video done with the previous generation (X-70).

Iv seen that video and their other one is awesome using it gold prospecting. I love the machine and can't wait to try it out. It blows the gold bug se away cause the gold bug is so noisey and to uncontroable for me. I might end up selling the gold bug se. I have been practicing swinging the 70 on very slow sweeps and moving slow. In a few weeks i will try to post some pictures of my hunt, don't know what i will find or where i will start until i hit the gold feild ( Northern california rivers) but its going to be fun.
