Xterra question

New member
I have, the Xterra 305, and a friend of mine has the 505.
He's claiming that the 505 is a far deeper detector.
If it is deeper, then how much deeper will it go.
Either way I love the 305 :))

I wouldn't sweet it Bruce. There is a term to express the depth of each (standard, enhanced and something else to imply that the 705 goes deeper still) but I think you'll find that the reality is, is that they are all within an inch of eachother. Given that 90% of all coins are in the top 6 inches, the 305 goes deep enough.

In my opinion, his term "Far Deeper" is a stretch. It might be able to gain a bit of additional depth due to the "more refined" adjustments for ground balance and Sensitivity. If you live near one another, the best advice I would give you is to put them head to head in the field. When one of you detects a target, don't dig it until the other one confirms it. You'll soon see how much deeper, if any, his 505 is compared to your 305. But as Mick said, most of the coins are well within the range of either. HH Randy
