On just about any detector that wasn't designed for picking them up, the small open links make it tough.
Minelab has answered the call for small gold with the X-Terra 50 and 70 models when using the 18.75 KHz coil, it'll pick up goodies like ankle chains and tiny ear studs that the Explorer won't even make a peep on,.
I probably shouldn't have told you that ... now the lakes jewels are in BIG TROUBLE if you get one of them

Again .... Nice Finds Bruce

That is good info there Mike thanks for the heads up! I recently bought a new home and the previous owner wanted a metal detector that was good in the water and good at finding small gold items or chains. The machine I had was a tiger shark and it did a very good job. I also have a excalibur which rocks in the water but just don't see the small gold ear rings ect ect. So anyway when we bought the home I guy proposed that he would leave his Kubota riding lawn mower model G1900 in trade for a detector. I told myself $450 for the detector and he paided $12,000 for the mower lots of years back. So we traded and I now have been looking to replace that machine and I like Minelab and now I have another machine to look at. Thanks again.

Mike
