Hi All
I don`t post much here as I`m a newby with my EXII but thaught I would share my finds yesterday.I was hunting a 175yr. old church site near my place and got a few Wheats,a 1911 Barber dime and a 18kt mens wedding band!my first gold ring with the Explorer!I had not heard this tone before and was digging out of curiosity, about 6" down I spotted that unmistakeable color!I am used to digging nuggets out West in Nevada but Gold is Gold!!I would like to find the owner but I`m sure he is not with us now,Most coins from this site date 1820(my oldest)to early 1900`s.My GP Extreme is going to start collecting Dust!
Cheers!

Great finds! Were you using digital when you found the ring and what reading did you get if you were? Just curious. HH!

I was in digital and had some various combinations,I could not get a lock and repeat consistantly a set of numerical readings. It did beat around 7-24 but I remember seeing 9-18,2-20 and so on...It hit kind of like a pulltab on smartfind but the audible was definately sweet sounding and repeatable in all directions.I never gave a gold ring a thaught at the time but dug with plenty of curiosity.I never needed the X-1 on this one so I`m getting better at pinpointing anyway!I am in the habit of digging most of my targets as I find I`m learning the tones now and need the positive reinforcement of what I think I`m going to dig.In this case I had no idea and was very happy with my reward. It weighed in at 9.5 grams.I`m used to swinging a big ML GP in the desert and getting a couple of hits an hour, so this learning curve on the EX II has been somewhat HUMBLING at times but once one gets through the initial first 30 hrs. or so you really start to realize what a weapon this detector is all about.I have not even used my stock coil yet in the 2 months I`ve owned it,I have the ML 7.5" on it and will keep it on till I learn this machine some more because it gives me very good target separation so I can learn the tones.
I gotta say EXPLORER II ROCKS!!
