Yesterday afternoons finds from underneath some trees adjacent to an old cricket oval. Only needed a two bob to have a complete set. The dark marks on the sixpence and threepence indicates how they were stuck together when they came out of the same hole. Thanks for looking........Ken.
I love the florin! Sure would like to pull one of those up. So far, not yet. The Shilling is a great looking coin as well. It will look good with a bit of a scrub up. I've only found 2 of those so far, one at my son's school. Got quite a thrill when each one came up! I've only just discovered, that my favourite site for modern coins, also had several very old homes on it. I was talking to a homeless man that was relaxing there. He even pointed out the general lay out of where they were. It is consistent with where I knew where another old home used to be located. I don't normally hunt deep on this site, as I don't like disturb the lawn. The farmers market is held on this site twice a month, so I've generally only gone for the shallow stuff. It is the spot where the second shilling showed up.
Now that you mention it, that makes a ton of sense, but I guess where I fall down even more on this is- I don't know what cricket is either, except it's some kind of a game. Forgive me. I'm just an old kid from California, but I'm "jesting" you a bit. I have heard of cricket before, but I'm not sure if you use this kind of basket thingy or what, but thanks for the answer and keep up the great finds and picks. Your so good at metal detecting. Marc
