Hey, I sure could use some help here. I just got a garret ace 250, and im new to metal detecting. So hear goes at the risk of sounding stupid I have a question. Why does my metal detector show me a dime or a quarter etc. and when i dig down to the depth that it shows me to all I find is a rock. I re swing the hole and get no tone but if i swing over the rock I pulled from the hole I get tone for a dime or a quarter etc.? Help please !!!

You may have what they call a hot rock.
Those are rocks with high mineral (metallic)content.
Also possible that the rock could be a meteorite.
Dose it attract a magnet.? In other words dose a magnet stick to it?
