Way back in 1978, there was this park on the north side of Fort Worth, where hookers plied their trade, until the local ladies burned down their playhouse in 1875 or so......another story.
Anyway, the ladies of the day made it a park, and since it was close in to town, in modern times, it became a place laden with pulltabs. By the tens of thousands. UNBELIEVABLE amounts of pulltabs. Really couldn't hunt it effectively due to the tabs. :-(
So, in 78, the City decided to beautify the park. I was delivering prescription drugs part time from my job as a firefighter, when I passed by the park, on my motorcycle.
There was a tractor in the park, pulling a turning disk behind it, overturning all the soil! I am *almost* ashamed to admit, that I suddenly got a case of the Can't Work Blues, and returned to the drug store, and told them I was sick, and had to go home......I was sick with anticipation, and raced home and got my metal detector and raced to the park.
Over the course of the next week, I took out over 700 coins, many from the 1800's after 2 days of hunting this site, I invited two of my detecting buddies over to help. Together, we extracted a bit over 3100 coins. This park was virgin, and on the first silk stocking road in old Fort Worth.
I have never duplicated that feat again, and I am confident, I never will, but it sure is fun looking for it. Nowdays, I hunt older places, with my EX II, and even after all these years, the sound of silver amps me up.
