Your settings

Why doesn't someone post on here their best coin program? Best relic program? Deepest program? Why run 2 tone? Why run 3,4,5,full tones? I'm not trying to copy any programs I was just wondering why these are never posted?

Thats a very easy question for me to answer.

Most of my sites over here in the UK i use Basic1 2tone 5 Discrimination.

Sites with lots of trash etc Deus Fast 2Tone 5 Discrimination

As you can gather i tend to keep it simple, these settings for me cover all my needs and very productive as well, this covers me for pasture, ploughed and rolled, trashy sites and about everything else except beaches which i dont do.Finds me plenty of roman, saxon, early medieval.

I see it as "basically its a switch on and go detector, but using high end technology." but of corse what works well for me may not suit other or othr detecting ground conditions.

For me I use the stock programs with a few changes mainly to tones. I may change Reactivity to suite conditions.

For example, my tot lot program is basically the Deus Fast with some tone changes, and I've actually made changes to them since this picture. I now run tone 1 & 5 at 120 instead of 202/200 and tone 2 at 400, and tone 3 at 600.

The Deus standard programs are actually very good and varied enough for many conditions. Other than those there are not really any "Magic" programs. There are some great guidance factors in Andy's book and he has a few programs listed.

Generally speaking I believe you are much better off understanding what the changeable parameters do and making adjustments for your specific conditions.

Understand that there will always be trade-offs. For example: the deepest setting is at zero reactivity...however you will have to swing the coil very slowly.

Thank yall for the answers, I was just curious because so many people have settings that say are the best and some use the opposite settings and say theirs is the best. Some people say 1 silencer is the best. I run -1 and that word for me

The Deus, in my opinion, is machine you make changes on based on conditions at the time. No magic bullet program you just adjust what you need at the time. I adjust the Reactivity and Silencer to meet my needs and that is about it.

Like some others have said, I use mostly variations of the stock programs. I haven't found the need yet to use other than three tones though. I keep threatening to use pitch, but just can't seem to make myself use it. Have been tossing around getting the 11in. coil though, just for a little xtra oomph , even though the 9in. is giving me great depth.

To put it bluntly Some people don't know their arse from a hole in the ground and some do. Learn the machine, watch videos, read Andy's book. Every one uses different settings. You could have 100 custom programs listed here and no two would be the same. It's a personalized kind of detector. Learn what makes it go deep, learn what you give up by making it go deep. Every option has a positive effect and a negative effect some where else. You have to learn what you are willing to give up to make gains elsewhere.

Yep, same as others have posted. No magic program per se. Learning what each setting does is paramount.

But for your perusal... I usually utilize gmp in 18kHz as I feel it hits harder on the smaller stuff. I'll generally run the Sens. in the 90s depending on emi, although rarely below 80. One of my key points is to watch the ground reading to keep the gb within a few digits. This is for primarily field hunting. Like Southwind, I'll modify the reactivity and silencer per site. My preference is reactivity of 2, and silencer of +1 to +2. Although you have to be willing to move out of your comfort zone. You may have to speed it up in heavy iron, or slow it down for depth...Recently, I revisited an old site that hadn't produced many targets, with multiple detectors. I turned off the silencer, set the reactivity to 0, and crawled along like I was using a fbs machine. Popped out and 1850s token, two thimbles, an 1830s civilian button, and some lantern parts. All targets were from 6"-12" deep.

Learn your machine is most important. Each site I hunt I tweak my Deus for the conditions of the day. I can save a program today for a specific site, hunt the same site a few days later and change the programs to suit that day I know it sounds weird but it works for me! I love the Deus for how fast I can change up my programs.
