My copper or brass ball that is - what is this thing? I found this at a construction site a few days back and just got around to cleaning it up tonight. It's diameter is about the same as that of a silver dollar. Notice the single groove around the rim. One side of it has been caved in long ago. Is it military in nature - a shell of some sort? Any ideas?
 
Looks to me to be the Brass Ball that is on the top and bottom of a set of (Hames) Horse Harness. They fit in front of the shoulders around the neck of the horse. Check the pic's of the Budweiser Clydesdales and you should see what I am referring to. Hope this helps.
