Let's throw some advice on stuff to do during self quarantining at home. Share what you are doing and any good advice...

I'll start off with advice to shop the streaming services. They all have intro deals. Anything shocks you as a good deal, let us hear right here. For my initial advice here. I reload, play with my black lab puppies and only go out to fix an occasional furnace armed with plenty of wipes and trying not to touch anything. At home I did discover a really good movie called "Alpha" which was close to being a "Call of the Wild" type of movie without the big stars but to me was really good. Only found it on "Stars" which has a $5 per month for 3 months intro on Amazon Prime. "Bombshell" was pretty good too but not the epic view Alpha was.

Well, as far as movies go.
Watched: Ford vs Ferrari it was a great movie. Tells the story of Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles and they’re triumph over Ferrari at LeMan.
Rewatched: Last of the Mohicans, The Patriot, We where Soldiers, Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart
Other then that just sitting at home and calling my mother numerous times throughout the day (I cannot go visit due to nursing home restrictions). I’m trying not to go out unless I really need too as I figure if I get ill my moms gonna be in a bad situation since I am her personal helper/runner for meds and goods etc.
Thank goodness I have my best buddy (my Boston Terrier) to keep the home life entertaining.
I am anxious for this to pass and warmer weather to come so I can get to swinging the trusty Minelab.

I had also previously watched Alpha. It was pretty good I agree. My son had rented it and shared it with me.

I did take advantage ordering some home automation parts online that was going on sale because what happening now. One order even saved me over 100 dollars.
Working from home, my office is shut down for 2 weeks now.

Watching “Cash Cab”, YouTube videos and think I’ll rent “1917” based on my son’s suggestion.
Charged all my detectors, headphones and coils.
Planted Begonias and Lavender.
Pine away for a detecting session. Being floored people are partying for Spring Break.
Writing a science fiction novel called “Corona Virus!”...
I get up early, use the restroom, then spend the day, wandering from room to room! (Thanks Bob Newhart for the quote)!

I'm out digging as much as I can. The schools are shut down so I have those to myself. So no worries of getting or spreading the Coronavirus. When it's raining I have been doing a little remodeling around my house.

Was wondering how this was labeled as an answer to Self quarantining?? lol

The Last Ship was a mini series on TV, I taped it, its about a virus that kills most everyone, including the Senate and house and the president off, You can google it.

I can see why this post is here. responding to all these who miss their detecting sessions, WTH! Metal detecting is the perfect Self quarantining sport. Ha, ha, I rarely ever go dirt-fishing in a crowd. I really don't think this is any reason to deprive you of all your "happies". IMHO, my self quarantining will include myself and my MD rig, out by myself, on some old site.

Old movie " On the Beach" Gregory Peck , Ava Gardner About the Nucular cloud crossing the equarter after a accidental war. Engrossing but it aint going to cheer you up.
Last week and a half converting our under home garage into something usable. Hung ceiling, installed sliding door, now finishing painting walls. People are going for walks in ones and twos. Mostly with dogs. I sneek out and hunt a abandoned field couple of times a week. Actually more quarentined than home,

Absolutely! Metal detecting is kind of a self quarantine situation anyway. I go to the post office, gas station, grocery store, why shouldn't I enjoy a sport that can be enjoyed by one person. The panic involved amazes me. I'm not sure why I should consider metal detecting anymore of danger than normal necessities. I am taking care of my elderly Mother. I wouldn't do anything that may be a danger to her, more of a danger than anything else we do, so I'm very careful to sanitize as needed but, as far as regular activities are concerned, MD is not a contact sport and I never dirtfish in a crowd. So I'm a little confused why people are complaining about not being able to go out and have some fun. Remember, stress is very detrimental to your immune system, don't load any unnecessary stress that may just be a response to the fear porn we are seeing from the networks. IMHO, I will maintain a level of isolation that I'm comfortable with, but that doesn't mean total shutdown, just be aware and careful.

I gotta say ... I don't see how "quarantine" applies to our hobby.

Suppose I'm out doing some curb strips. They are eight feet wide, with an open street on one side and an open sidewalk with open yards to homes on the other side.

When somebody goes by on the sidewalk, they are walking four or five feet away. They keep going, and are gone in five seconds or less.

I could step farther away -- say, step off the curb and into the street, for a few seconds. There is no contact, and there is no exchanging of breath. We are separated.

Plus, it's rare when I see people walking on the sidewalk. It's totally different from being in a shopping line at the supermarket.

And there aren't a lot of people. I could do curb strips for an hour, and not see anyone on the sidewalks.

And when a car goes by on the street, there is no exchanging of breath.

It's just me and my detector. Plus, if I'm in a field, it's even more remote.

What's the issue with doing our hobby? I don't see the risk to ourselves or to anyone else.

Cheers,

Joe

If you go to the grocery store, the post office, the gas station etc. you take the chance of contracting the virus by touch on door handles.
Then you bring it home where you’ve touched your car keys, the car door handle, the front door knob etc.
All the while you haven’t sanitized your hands in any way. This is why....

switched wheels on my fat bike from 26x5 inch to 29x2-25. Also put on a rack, dropper post, higher stem. feels like a race bike now. been putting it off till i figured out the right hub parts i needed and had to make a bearing press to get a new driver/free hub on. not a big deal, heated a piece of 1 1/4" pvc and opened it up a bit. Still haven't got my detector out but putting my gear together. changing thermostat on my old zr2 blazer and gotta go over rear drums on my pickup as soon as a good couple days of weather hit. Did walmart today and that will be the last time for a long while.
