Discrimination setting - Anfibio Multi

Question on what you set your discrimination to in 3, 4 and 5 tone mode. I find (obviously) the higher I set it, the more depth I lose. I've been setting mine somewhere between 5 and 10, but I read where folks have been setting theirs as high as 21. I tried that and it seemed like I wasn't finding anything deeper than 5 or so inches. Everything deeper than 5 inches was coming in with a very weak, jump signal. I'm still learning the machine as I just bought it several weeks ago. What is your normal setting for discrimination in 3-4 and 5 tone?
 
So, not that I'm a wizard with this, but since I can set the colume on the iron at 1 i dont mind listening to the iron. So i alway change the volume but never change the discrimination.

I Believe if you set the zone volume to 0, it wont discriminate it but you shouldnt hear it( or at least barely audible) but havent tried zeor yet.
 
Notch out 97-99 to cancel out wrap around iron
Disc out 0-5 to get rid of ground chatter.
Or disc 0-15, still pick up small gold jewelry. Small Foil will be anything from 17-19 most of the time, don't dig unless your after micro-gold jewelry and tiny chains.
Iron volume set lower, so if there is much iron around, the barrage of signals won't annoy you.
You should still get the best depth at these settings.

Are you getting tid of chatter on 5 tone with a discrim of 0-5? Also do you see a difference from frequency to frequency?

Im kind of an odd guy and not sold on the theory that increased discrimination restricts depth, but i do like to hear the iron, it makes me slow down and helps me develop ideas on traffic and usage of previous generations.

Still wish there was a shortcut switch to toggle discrimination modes so i can take a quiet mental break from the iron wile still swinging. For now i just change modes.

You will always get some chatter at the low disc settings 0-5 due to ground mineralization. Bump the disc up to 10, should reduce, eliminate chatter.
You may hear less chatter at 5 than 19.

And just like that a lightbulb went off in my dim mind......

Got so mentally hung up on wanting a on/off switch for noise, that i looked past the 10 second fix to turn the volume in zone 1 from 1 to 0 while im hunting to take a quiet break. I have always been a little wierd about too many changes to my saved programs, for fear i will not remember to change back a setting without powering down.

Also have you tried discrimination at zero and nothcing the Iron out?

I have questions about the discrimination function built into the Kruzer and Anfibio. In my Kruzer manual it says....

"Note: DISC. setting works inversely proportional to depth up to level 15 in all modes. In other words, as the DISC. is increased up to 15, stability will increase but depth will be reduced and vice versa. Above 15 though, both depth and noise will increase"

I hunt in areas with lots of magnetite iron particles and high mineralization. I usually set my Kruzer discrimination level on at least 4 just to tone down the chatter and keep it from hitting every microscopic iron particle. It will really get quiet at 10. According to the quote from the manual, am I losing a lot of depth by setting it at 10 opposed to setting it at 0 or default 3? Also, one drawback to using the Kruzer in higher mineralization (the mineralization graph is maxed out or one level away most of the time) is that the numerical target IDs are all over the place even on 3" to 5" good coin sized targets. So am I understanding that the stability mentioned in that quote refers to target ID stability? Would running a discrimination level from 10 to 15 along with raising the ISAT level a bit make coin and jewelry targets down to 6" deep have better target ID?

As i understand it, the stability that will increase is the reduction of high gain chatter due to your detector reporting all the iron. Im an odd guy who doesn't subscribe to the therory discrimination reduces depth. With a caveat, that being deeper targets inherently have a broader or jumpy VDI or TID. Which may move it to the discriminated VDI'S

The transmit power shouldn't change on digital machines like it apparently does with analog detectors.
