I hunted in the mud the other day. used my A.T. zlink pinpointer it got muddy, so when I got home I washed it off with a water hose. I dried it off, an then I turned it on. now the light wont go off an the changing the modes wont work. the light will go off if I tap on the pointer. warrenty went off about six months ago. wonder if garrett would have mercy an fix it for free like first texas [fisher] does sometimes? the battery cap was good an tight. they say it can go in the water down to I believe 20 feet.

You will have to contact Garrett. It is out of warranty. Call them, they might work out a deal for you. 1 800 527 4011

Since it seems to have leaked, you should send it in to Garrett with an explanation of what happened. That is the best way to go, but you could try to remove the electronics and place it into a bag of rice and see if that may fix the problem. Unscrew the cap and remove the battery. You will see a small Philips screw. Remove the screw and the guts will come out of the shell. Leave it in the rice for a whole week. Otherwise, a trip to Garrett is in order and probably should be done because it leaked and that is not supposed to happen. They are reasonable on their repairs.
