went to one the the local old parks this morning, as soon as I start on a new strip near the road a lady comes from across the street and actually asks me if I would like , I can detect her property. the home was her childhood home and built in the early 1900's... she asked if I found anything cool could she see it. well the back yard was too wet to do today, but the small front yard giveth up a little... a 32 merc, and 42, and 56 wheats.. I did find one thing I gave her I don't have a pic of... it was a 1939 dog ID tag.. she said she remembered that dog and I thought she was gonna cry...anyway, she said I have an open invitation when it dries out...

Great hunt. Nice move in giving her the dog tag 👍 Can’t wait to see what else you pull out of this yard

Anytime you can a permission, life is good. Now you've got the back yard to look forward to, should have some nice finds in there, probably the first time anyone has hunted the yard.
yeh, I am by nature not a door knocker... most of my permissions have come by saying hello, or by striking up a conversation with someone already out... I cannot bring myself to bother someone by knocking, probably because I cannot stand strangers knocking on my door...

While reading your post... I was thinking you had found 32 mercury dimes!!🤣😂
Then I reread it and realized you two... one being a ‘32.
A similar thing happened to me a couple years ago... while detecting a park, a woman asked me if I could help her find some property stakes at her house nearby.
I found them and asked for permission to search her yard and she happily agreed
Did not do as good as you, but I got a few coins there.
I’m looking forward to what else that site you are detecting gives up... good luck!!

Felix, wouldn’t that be super if I could find 32 Mercs in one hunt ? 🤭🤭

Its always a good feeling to return any item that’s identifiable. I just returned a nice tag to a guy who lost it two years ago and since moved away. Thankfully it had a phone number that was still current! He was nice enough to send a pic of the dog it belonged to........
