The path to silver.

I was enjoying my morning coffee down by the river when I noticed something different within the landscape. The power company obviously had cleared an area a long the easement path under the power lines across the river. Hmmm. Always wanted to go in there but it's like a jungle. Vines, surface roots, small sapplens and snake grass. All competing for sun light. Now was my opportunity!!!. Pulled my trusty 75 out and put my gear on. Followed a delapataded road that once crossed the river on a bridge that was built sometime in the late 1800's. I scratched a couple clad coins and the usual shot gun shells. 20 feet into the clearing I hit a very strong 90-93 signal. If it was a coin it was big!!! Dug my plug and out popped a 42 walker half. 4-5 inches down. Not much after that but the band I found might have been used for banding waterfowl???

Well dang, sorry to hear your morning cup of coffee got interrupted for chasing walking ladies. Nice score! Perhaps you know, but those water fowl bands can be googled for their history. I have found a couple and its interesting when and where they were banded. HH jim tn

Thanks Jim was hoping you would reply. I'll look it up tomorrow. I don't think my picks downloaded. hhrickinmi

Oh when the numbers hit low 90s so does my heartrate (x2....!!!). Are you positive there wasnt something a bit larger down there? 50 cent usually hit 85-87 with me but lower 90s have been silver dollar or at least that size target. Love that walking lady when she peeks out!!

Triple check that Walker hole 🤣

Oh yeah guys I always swing back over and all around after I dig a good target!!!! hhrickinmi

Seems we never stop looking for new places to hunt, we can be anywhere doing anything and our radar is always searching.
92 is where 1/2 dollars pop up on my F5 screen, love it when I can get a nice clear 4 way signal with steady numbers.

3 Walkers stacked will read 94-95, at least they did on my 75 several years ago on a winter woods hunt. They were only about 5" deep. Quite honestly, almost didn't dig it showing those numbers, but the darn thing just sounded so good. I've been fortunate enough to have two 3 Walker spills over the years. The 2nd one, though, I hit one and found the other two by rescanning the hole and located them with the pin pointer. Rick, go get another one from the path. HH jim tn

That's pretty amazing Jim!!! A double triple I guess I'd say. I always scan back over. Being in the woods I even made the hole wider and scanned the area well. I went back this morning and found my first V nickel. hhrickinmi

Alright guys my adrenaline was pumping pretty fast through the blood steam. I may have been off a few numbers on the ID screen. But it was solid and I knew from experience I had to dig. One aspect I notest though as I went into the woods after I done grab balance. My machine was showing balance at 83. Normally in my area it's around 60-70. Maybe that's the reason for a higher VID.????? Either way the results were good. Since I've been back twice the grab balance has stayed in the 60's. Even the V nickel hit low with short blips in the low 30's. Bouncing from 25 and up. This area is prone to flooding. It was completely under water two years ago. hhrickinmi

My ground is 65, +/-, but ever so often I'll run into some high 70's, too. In my case, probably fill dirt, as it is black while our ground here has a clay color. HH jim tn

Congrats on the big silver Rick! Always fun to find walking liberty halfs, that’s for sure.

You are hot on the treasure trail!! Very nice finds!

There is definitely treasure on that trail. Should be worth a good effort in the fall when the foliage is sparse working the edge and sides of the trail, too. Follow the treasure! HH jim tn

Jim I've just started off to one side. I'm only able to hunt early morning. It gets busy after that. Pretty close to the launch. Maybe hit it one more time and wait for fall. Don't wanna give up my 'honey hole' guite yet!!!!!

Gotta love power line cuts. I do well here in the lines. If the bird band is legible you can report it online and they will send you the dates and information about the bird in the form of a certificate. Dad used to find them once in a while or take a bird that had one. I’ve dug a few and reported them. Always very interesting results. Which reminds me that I have one or two that I need to report.
