I do not know about you guys but I can not wait to get my hands on the Deus 2. Deus in a multi and water proof to 66 ft... That water depth rating will play into my relic hunting game big time. I can not wait to run it in a iron loaded relic site.
I am more excited about this release than any other... Game changer!
A detector I can hunt on land with and also dive with. That is REALLY dive with....not that 10 ft waterproof rating crap.

I can't wait for you to get ahold of one either. Looking forward to the vids and seeing if I too need one in my life. I did see one those #short vids from Garandsolyn with one in it so hopefully we will start seeing content soon.

The announcement and subsequent launch of this machine still has me scratching my head. Just some teasers for a couple weeks, then here it is, then utter silence for nearly three weeks after?

I worked for one detector manufacturer, and worked with a second doing evaluations, when they tried to make a waterproof unit that didn't leak. It wasn't easy to do and some gave up on the ideas. I don't know of a current model that hasn't had leak issue, and the Equinox units seem to have had the most reporting. I am seriously interested in how well the Deus II will do.

Like you Calabash, I live close to the ocean but never beach hunt. I just might start though if the Deus II is as good as anticipated. The Deus is already a relic killer in the iron. It's hard to imagine the new Deus II platform being a significant improvement over the Deus in the iron. But we shall see! Love your recent vids BTW. You might be the best Subaru driver in the world and you know your car inside and out, but you are never going to outperform even an average driver in a Ferrari. ;)

What makes it crap ? Most will never dive. Most will never go beyond shoulder depth. If you want to dive, sure, it has an advantage. It also cost significantly more than say a Nokta Legend. The percentage of divers on this forum compared to those who don't, would be in the single digits. That doesn't make waterproof detectors rated for 10', crap.

Im buying two.....one to use and one to add to my mint collection of detectors....Some people collect coins and baseball cards I collect guns and metal detectors but im also an avid detectorist

While I hope they have achieved a deep-resistent package to handle pressure, almost everyone I know who uses a 'waterproof Minelab or Nokta / Malro device never ger close to 10' depths .... if they go beyond waist to shoulder depths at all.

Most of them are mainly land-based hunters at least 90% of the time. It will be interesting to follow XP's new aventure. .... while enjoying my ORX that gives me all I need.

My Kruzer never leaked. Ever. If I were to get a Legend, I would have no problem dunking it. How many Simplex detectors have you heard about leaking compared to the Nox ?

This right here is my whole point. If it's good to 10' and you don't go deeper. Why would calabash refer to it as crap ?

I think he was talking about the industry standard in waterproof detectors. Minelab has a huge leak issue and several of us has said if XP would ever bring out a good simultaneous multifrequency machine that is also waterproof then I'd be done shopping for detectors. But since they upped their game and made it good for 66' deep then that just included the divers in the group also.

10 ft depth rating is crap to me...You all act like it is impossible for a company to make a truly waterproof detector Monte .I have a dive detector that has never leaked in over a 100 dives. My mentor has had his for 10 years and it never leaked. XP Deus has the brains to make a truly waterproof detector. All the detectors that were mentioned above are USELESS underwater because you cant HEAR them underwater. Looks like Deus solved that issue with the new bone conduction headphones. They are light years ahead of ALL companies on ergonomics. Thanks to Deus wireless headphone are STOCK on most brands today. These guys were light years ahead of their competitors in the 2010 release of the Deus.

Kajunman just to let you know you are in the big boys forum. You are correct most will never go beyond 10 ft but all those who buy the Deus 2 will have that option to do so if they desire. While you are on the shore holding a LEGEND we are going to be down there making LEGENDS with all the stuff we are finding !!! :stars: Look at the pics that is WHY a 10 ft depth rating is crap to me.

I got a prediction that the boys over in France just made the King of all detectors..... Time will tell.

CD, if 10' is crap to you, I'm sorry. That appears to be the performance standards manufactures decided to strive for. If you currently have a detector that functione deeper w/o a leak, Great, you have a tool for the tadk.

All I said was it is difficult to make a waterproof device, especially as depths increase, and it will be interesting to monitor the results of XP's efforts. I never said they haven't achievmed it.

XP Deus has the brains to make a truly waterproof detector. So does Garrett, Nokta and Minelab. Because they have. Waterproof to 10' appeals to the majority of detectorist who hunt in and around water.

I've seen your pics before and glad you found another hobby. In fact, I think you should spend more time under water.

Ok Kajunmom so Deus opted to make the majority and minority both happy...Funny how different peoples brains work . A company that has a two year warranty has more confidence in their machine than a company who has a 5 year warranty. . You are over here on the Deus forum being a spokesperson for Nokta. Ok just because you asked I will state a few obvious things....
1 Nokta has never matched a Deus in its past offerings....
2 When I show the Deus 2 spanking the New Legend to the ends of the earth I do not want to hear you crying about the Deus 2 cost more...
3 A Deus 2 does not look like a Equinox clone.
4 Like I said you are over here in on the big boys forum now.

BTW Monte must have misunderstood what you were saying...

What you want to bet in the next few years that mark will change in the industry?

It might, but that will be determined by manufacturers and the global market trend. The market will determine how a many want what will be required for required waterproofing and audio performance.
