Green grass

Ronstar

Well-known member
I was out and about for awhile yesterday. We currently have about a foot of snow on the ground, the temps have been staying generally between 22 and 32. After the one big snow dump last week it warmed up the next day to high 30s and rained. Know what happens when you plow your road and shovel the sidewalk areas and then it rains and the the temps plummet back to freezing? Yup, an honest goodness ice rink! Pretty sure in my area we simply will not be back out detecting for probably a good two months.

I saw a patch of green grass yesterday where someone had probably dug a car out and the snow hadnt hit the ground under it. I started to shed a tear and said, “sweet grass……”!
Had to inject a little humor here.

Similar conditions to the north of you in CDA. I feel your pain. Fortunately for me, I can get out and water hunt. Been out once in the river and once in the lake. About four dollars in change, small silver ring, a few fishing lures, some sinkers,, lots of trash.
Maybe we will get some strong chinook winds soon and start thawing things out.

Ronstar: Looks as though you will be just slip-sliding along for a while! I read where the Artic Freeze is coming to visit the good OLE USA! Keep your Ice Skates handy! :cautious: Ma

To warm the cockles of your heart.

Balmy 50 here today. Hunted a new spot (10 days ago) that is going through a major renovation, structure torn down and ground to be moved. So far, my 2 buddies and self are the only ones hunting it. Each of us have recovered silver, several period bullets and buttons and some jewelry. I've got 13 silver coins to date, including a 1816 1/2 reale and also a 1849 large cent. Know it will be a short hunting window, so we plan to hunt it rain, sleet or snow. Seldom to we get frozen ground.

Since you can't hunt, research your area's park commission 2022 planned projects. Ours maintains all city parks, most city golf courses, swimming pools and walking trails, to name few. Renovations of some sort take place almost annually on something. Stay warm out there. HH Jim Tn

About the same here, got up to 40 today tried to dig a few shallow signals but had to chip them out. Two pieces of junk and one wheatie supposed to be 50 next couple of days then snow again.

All the indoor chores are mainly done now. Spent yesterday whacking away at this ice with an 8lb sledge. As long as the ice fractures I can bust it away about 12” a row. So far the gravel parking pad in front of the house is about 75% cleared. The one lane leading up outta here is still another story……
Cant complain too loud as a year ago we were out a whole bunch hitting areas. This year is nearly a complete opposite.
Larbear, I think you folks in CDA and N to Sandpoint got it worse than we did!!!!

I said this on Missouri Hunting Forum Today seen over dozen Doves [1/12/22] in the yard this morning...
Weather man says this weekend will be 70 degrees. This morning we had ants in the kitchen & I seen these plants in the yard so I guess I will tiller the garden & plants some tomato & peppers on Christmas this year

One of the vehicle's snow was up to the roof.
Be awhile before any digging.
