Pinpointers

Not sure if this is the right thread but not only trying to decide on a new detector after years of new ones coming out and old ones gone with different technology but now what pin-pointers are good in say the $100 price range
I read all kinds of pointers i never heard of, pI vs vlf, all kinds of brands, technology

I haver a Nokta/Makro Pulse-Dive PinPointer I use on occasion but have it as a loaner device for friends and family.

Most of the time I use one of my four Garrett AT Pointer w/Z-Lynk that are paired with the MS-3 Headphones I haver for my Garrett Apex, Fisher F75+, Fisher F19, and another Headphone & Pinpointer set I can grab as desired for my Tesoro's, White's XLT or other device. Never have had a problem with any of them.

One guy on a different site had a link to a youtube video of comparing nokta and garrett really good
Both had strong features depending what you are looking for but hence the term pinpoint one seems to be a clear winner
My metal detector can get me within three inches if that was all I needed
Guess i started the old fashion way, dig dirt out run detector over it then take a handful at a time and run it under coil until its in your hand
Cant recall where I learned that technique from

Just away from the Chinese knockoffs. If its $20 just keep looking (careful too as they look just like Garretts….)

I have an XP MI6, Garret carrot and original black one, a Whites TRX, and a Fisher F Pulse. The XP pairs with my Deus which is really nice but is also excellent as a stand alone one. The carrot seems to be a bit more reliable than the original but you couldn't tell by me. My original still works fine. Some prefer the original because it is instant on and instant off. The carrot takes a little longer, as does the others, but seems to be more reliable from what I read. The carrot detects off the point and sides about equally, making it a good choice when paired with large coils, deep holes and large piles of dirt excavated from the hole. The TRX is the deepest I have but hardly detects off the side at all. This is good for people using a screwdriver to recover coins and who can pinpoint pretty close already with their detector. The F Pulse is almost as deep but detects deeper on the side than the Whites.

That said, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. I have had no trouble with any of them and could probably be content if I only had any one of the 5.

Oh, I forgot, when I purchased my first detector, a Fisher F2, I got a black teknetics pinpointer with a tuning knob on it. It hardly detected off the point or the side. When I got my first black Garrett pinpointer, it was a world of difference.

Love my Garrett Carrot.
Had it 3 yrs now.
Just perfect.
Here's a great store in Michigan.

Been leaning towards a carrot. Basically have to start over with decent detector, decent pinpoint, and decent tool. I lnow bundles but usually they are all the same brand and to me no manufacture makes the best everything they all have plus and minus. So cherry picking everything i need so if and when I upgraded should only be the detector. Having been in hobby before helps just need to familiarize myself with everything new out there.

My likes, in order, are the F-Pulse, TRX, and the Carrot. I carry the F-Pulse and the TRX in tandem now. If I could only carry one, it would be the Fisher F-Pulse.

The Deteknix X-Pointer for $89 new is a very good bargain.

Isnt the TRX a white’s unit? I heard they are good also
I see they are out of business though

Yes, it is a Whites unit. They are out of business but Garrett took over service. The TRX is selling for much more now than when new and while Whites was still in business.
So can you still purchase them new or not available anymore

This Pinpointer will help you find the right location without damaging the treasure, so using this pinpointer will reduce the risk of damage to your items. I used this pinpointer and I was very pleased with the results.
