Any advantage using antenna for land use?

Interesting question. Does the D2 only switch to the antenna if it sees that the wireless comm has been lost? Would you even know which system it’s using if on dry land? Not sure…don’t know. Since any inputs are via the coil itself AFAIK, I wouldn’t think there‘d be a difference either way, even a minuscule difference.

If there were an advantage, I would think XP would have permanently attached one. It is my understanding that it is the only way to get the signal from the coil through the water. I would think any advantage would be negated by the extra wire hanging on the side of the detector. Note that this is speculation and I have been wrong before. If you have a Deus, the only way to be sure is to try it and see.

It doesn't "switch" modes. Where the antenna is attached to the coil is the wireless transmitter for the RC and the WS6. The wire only picks up the signal from there and carries it through water to the receiver of the remote.

That makes more sense, thanks Mud!

So then do you get a faster response using the antenna on land, being that it goes up the shaft?

No. It doesn't help on land as far as I can tell. It may even pick up more EMI.
Cheers
