Just got back from a Beach Hunt and learned something about the wireless head phones.

Went early this morning to the beach and it’s just getting too hot to be out there too long. I was having a problem with the wireless head phones not communicating with my AT MAX. it kept on loosing the signal and kind of messed up my hunt for about 2 hours.I found out what the problem was If anyone has had that identical situation. You have to make sure that the receiver, on off button side , is on the same side as your detector to get a good signal. I really messed up trying to take advantage of the low tide the first 2 hours of my hunt. After fixing that, had no problem for the rest of my Hunt. I can’t figure out why everyone says that a single frequency detector is not good on wet salt beaches compared to the multi- frequency ones. Never had a problem with my AT- PRO and no problems with my MAX, quiet as a mouse and just crazy deep with the Max. Did find some interesting things , some bling and coins. Some pyrite with the polished stones.

Thanks a bunch for that piece of advice. It explains some weirdness I've experienced. My son gave me an ATMax last Father's day. I'm still learning how to use it, but it's great fun and gets my old ass out of the house. I've never had any other detector and I find none of the negatives some have written about. If it gets a bit chirpy, I just lower the sensitivity a bit. I thank you again, as I tend to swap sides with the detector if it gets a bit tiring on one side, I'll be sure to swap the headphones too!!!! I love the wireless phones! Nice finds!!!!

Hi, had a AT-PRO for years and loved it, The AT- MAX is a little different than the pro, a lot more sensitive and a very deep detector. If you get a clean area without all the trash and stay away from the EMI that is almost everywhere, it will run perfect with full sensitively once you dial it in. Going on a year with mine and learning something every time I use it. I have 3 different detectors and use each one depending on where I hunt. There is no one detector that can do it all, you have to leave your options open depending where you go and the different variables you will encounter. As far as the depth, I would put it up against the top ones out there.
