I'm waiting on delivery on a Vanquish 540 in a Pro Pack. I wanted something my brother could use. I probably researched that model for weeks. I considered other brands. I found the Nokta line interesting, and considered a Double Score, but finally decided on the Vanquish. I'm still working my 705, but waiting for some cooler weather. As I've gotten older, hot temperatures bother me more than cold temperatures. I can always put on more clothing if it's cold, but there is only so much I can take off before someone calls the police.

I wasn't active in this hobby for 10 or so years, to the point where I paid almost no attention to any aspect. My thoughts after returning are that we are in the golden age of metal detecting. So ... many ... choices. And so much heretofore unavailable technology that is modestly priced. Thank you Free Market.

That will be a new one for the police blotter 🤣
“Metal detector streaker nabbed at local park”
😅😂🤣

I feel the same as you about being bothered by heat more than cold as I get older.
Of course I draw the line on detecting when the ground is frozen or snow is on the ground…🤭
You can have the cold 🥶 I need warmth 🤭
When temperatures rise, so does the silver 😂

To me, the ideal machine would be basically a 705 in the new lightweight rechargeable waterproof pod and a Beach Mode that worked in wet salt like the Pro. It would still have the -8 to 48 TID scale and the same audio as the 705, as well as all the other user definable operating modes and parameters. If they made it able to work on all frequencies without swapping coils, that would be cool too.

The new Xterras are nice, but I feel like we lost more than we gained. Stable TID, the superior Audio, and Prospector Mode w/Iron Mask are things I really miss on the Pro.
