My Vortex Got Ring #19 Today!

I was going to go prospecting today, but the weather forecast was for rain this afternoon, so I opted to go metal detecting. I hit a sports-field and pulled out a nice copper and brass belt ring, about a size 8. Some of the coins were found earlier this week.

Here's the gold I got the other day with my WEDGY (name of my highbanker) washing roots from the grass along the river's edge. The river was still a bit on the high side, so most of the gravel was still under water. The grass catches the flour gold in high water as it floats through it, and gets buried with a ligh layer of silt. This gold can accumulate over the years, making it a good source of gold. It has to be washed and the roots need to be washed to remove the flour gold. If you have a gold pan and are near a gold producing creek, try washing the roots of the nearby vegetation. You might be surprised at what you can catch in your gold pan.
