I don't have the heart to sell mine. I know it will always work on a saltwater beach, and deep. I have all kinds of coils from 5" to 15".

I have the SEF 10×12 on my GT and Explorer xs. 15" WOT on the xs too.I see a nice GT listed, fee bay. It looks to be in really good condition. Comes with a 12x10 SEF. Perfect setup for a saltwater beach. I was thinking about a spare, plus that's one of my favorite coils. They're getting harder to find. I hipmount mine, so no problem swinging it.

Thanks for the well wishes Ted and really hope I will be able to detect next season. I think I seen the Original Sovereign posted on the classified, that must have been your. I had one original after I got my Sovereign XS and didnt like it like my XS, Some did like them and thought they did well. Maybe the one I had may have been something wrong with it as it just didn't seem to get the depth, plus it didn't run as smooth. The coinsearch 8 inch coil I felt made the nicest coil to learn the Sovereign, but they were not waterproof. I would love to get another 8 inch coinsearch, but not made anymore and those that have a coinsearch want to keep them.Get well so you can hunt again Rick! I put my Sovereign in the classifieds and never got a response!

So many were modded.
Hacked actually many of them.
Maybe that's what you bought.
Find a battery rebuild shop.Mine has the 8 inch coil Rick. As far as I know it is all original. A friend of mine used it quite some time back and did find a couple of wheat cents and an Indian head cent in a field but with the battery pack a bit swollen I don't want the door to get broken. I do charge the battery every couple of months and test the detector to make sure it works. I just have too much going on to buy another battery for it.

I still wish Minelab would come out with an upgraded version. That's all possible as many used ones I bought had been moded which made them worst for me and would change them back to the way they came out from the factory before I would sell them again to people that want to try to see what a Sovereign could do. The mods as making it lighter and balance better where OK and like the remote pinpoint were great too, plus changing the 550 meter to 180 were great as long as you didnt change the controls in the control box as I am sure the techs at Minelab know what they were doing much more than the user trying to make it better.
The last used Sovereign I got off this site said it had a new battery, but when I checked it out some company made some, but they use 3 of the 3.7 volt which is only 11.4 volts and not the 12 volts it needs, so maybe I can have one built with 10 of the rechargeable AA batteries which would get me the 12 volts needed. To me anyway with less then the 12 volts need the low battery alert. I find that the ones I have seen will be not too stable if the battery is to low voltage and this one I bought is doing this, so I hope it is what wrong here. I changed the meter from 550 to 180 as I like them better, plus the coil cable was bad so I ordered in the cable, but the cable i got has 3 black wires and one white wire were as the one on the coil has a red, black and a white and yellow, so I connected the wire at the coil and when I hooked it up to the connector I should have marked which black wire is the red or black and which other one goes where. At the coil I epoxied the connectors, so I dont no which is which. I am hopping to used my Multi meter to see if I can figure it out by checking the continuity of the 2 coils that are in the coil someday when I want tackle it this winter. Another project I want to do is make it lighter as made it balance better where I will make the shaft longer and move the control box back furthered to make it balance better and add my 180 meter and my S-1 probe..Mine has the 8 inch coil Rick.
