Well-known member
Hunting my local beach that got washed out pretty good by the last storm right down to a layer of rocks which I’ve never seen before. I was able to pull six silvers five mercury dimes and one SLQ and a bunch of clad one ring a musket ball, an old dog tag. all in very heavy iron the manicure was working great.

WTG !!! Im missing all the winter storms down in FL. Hunting sucks down here on the gulf coast. No wave action and thanks to the cold weather this winter, water is too cold for swimming.

Im sure you are having a field day !!!! Enjoy as good things dont last forever !!!!

Really nice diggins.
Them old beaches.
Everything heavy is at the bottom where it can't sink anymore from the constant vibrations of the waves pounding.

It's times like that I wish I could take my little loader and dig out an area and detect.
Or even sift thru a big shaker screen
Making it cleaner than before.

Could I call that prospecting ?

Thanks, Donna. Well, with every storm the beach has changed and I’m always finding silver or old coins or jewelry. That’s the good thing about living up here in the northeast. There’s a lot of stuff very deep down that gets uncovered like I said those rocks were all under sand, probably 2 feet of sand before this storm

These coins are all in the iron in the salt water. You can see from one pitcher the water is literally iron colored so almost every coin rings up 99 and it’s a very broken signal. You just have to know and have to dig like every signal. Thanks for looking.

Hey Donna, which part of Florida are you wintering in? I guess you could say we're neighbors, Florida being next door to Georgia. Have you been able to hunt any of the beaches where your at?

Im on the Gulf coast, Ft Myers. Im not really wintering. Im taking care of my Dad. Beaches suck down here because there are no waves and billions of tons of sand from replenishment.
Rather be on the east coast but cant get time off for an overnight visit.

I did luck out this year vs being up north for the winter !!!

Yep, it figures, Im always in the wrong place at the wrong time. But my Dads's 102 and he needs my help !!!

Eventually i'll get up north.

Cheers,
Donna

Thanks Yep like the guy in NH no scoops here lol it’s tough digging but worth it
In gravel and rocks I've found a hand matox works very well.
Here's mine. Notice the big NIB magnet on top.
I found that claw tool really digs quite well as well in gravel and hard stuff.
Like a snipping tool.
Most of the tools in the group shot I either made or modified.
At the time most specifically for digging around tree roots.

The Trowel i rounded sharpened and polished the edge.
If your in a privy fancy yard.
It cuts sod like butter. Very clean edge.
After I return the plug and lightly tamp slapping the ground with the trowel.
I move a couple feet away and I can't find where I was.
I have three of these in different sizes.

Here's hoping your Dad get's better. Maybe you can skip over to the east coast before you head back up north.
