Help! XP Deus 2 with 9" FMF Coil not working

NJDeux2

New member
Howdy y'all! I have a Deus 2 with a 9# stock FMF coil. It's been a champ! I've been running software version 4.1 with no issues. But it seems the coil (or the main control unit) isn't working. I tend to think it's the coil. Everything charges fine and the coil pairs with the head unit. But it BARELY registers a detection. I thought it might be completely blown but if I hold it over a cell phone (EMI?) or a metal chair it will barely register..but it does. I have fully charged everything. I was running version 4.1 software on everything without issue. Any thoughts on what may be wrong or how to remedy? I did try to reflash the software which I believe was done fine-but same problem. Lastly, it's possible there was a surge from thunderstorms while it was plugged in..just putting that out there just in case. Anyone else have this problem and especially ..how did you fix it! I only have the 9" coil so I can't swap it with a known good coil or another control unit. Thanks for ANY help and advice!

So you reflashed all updatable compnonets? Coils don’t get updated.
If you have done this.
Insure all updatable components have same exact version.
Next.
Check remote external speaker for operation sweeping over a targrt . Ensure under options menu audio output is dialed up for remote external speaker.
If you can pair wireless headphone module do this and check for audio coming out of headphones.
If both of the above fail.
I have no further advice. Except send the unit in.

Thanks so much for the input.. it's appreciated! I had done all those steps, with no success. I tend to think the problem is in the coil. The remote seems to work fine and audio is working as it should. I think it's possible that either A: There's something with the battery causing the problem in the coil or B: A surge took out something.. maybe the battery too. The coil charges up (solid light, occasional blink) and when removed from the charger I get a rapid blink on the coil. Haven't replaced a coil battery yet (or researched how to do it!) but that's probably my only hope if its the coil. I'm going to see if I can find someone with XP Deus 2 here in northern NJ to check out their coil on my remote and my remote on their working coil. I don't know anyone with an XP Deus 2 right now to help test. Again - thanks so much for the ideas.. I'm lost without my Deus 2!
