    10.5" coil for CZ-3D

I've been using a CZ-3D with the stock coil for about 7 months now and have been thinking about buying the 10.5" coil. Does the 10.5" coil increase the depth enough to make it worth the money? Hearing about your experiences with the 10.5" vs the 8" would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Chevrolet token

I found a Chevrolet token today with the CZ-3D. It is half-dollar size with scalloped edges. The obverse reads: "For Economical Transportation" with the blue Chevrolet bow tie badge in the center with "Chevrolet" in the bow tie. There is a hole to the right of the bow tie that looks like it...

    CZ-3D autotune

Has anyone ever used their CZ-3D in autotune? Opinions? Just order a new CZ-3D last week; it arrived today. Opened package to find a Gemini 3. Back it went. What a disappointment. Been using the CTX-3030 and just can't get more than 7" depth out of it (on a coin). Been looking at the...

    bad old days

You old timers will appreciate this story. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day here in central Oklahoma today. I left the house with high hopes of experimenting with the 11x17" coil in a park I've been hunting for a couple of years. Hoping to see if the large coil would pick up some of the...

    Basket Peddler

Found something last Saturday I've never seen before. It's a Basket Peddler badge. It's 2 3/4 x 1 3/4" (7 cm x 4.5 cm). Looks like its made of copper. It had a pin solder to the back which is now missing. It reads: OKLA CITY...

    They may not be pretty...

but they're all mine. The Barber dime looks like it is a 1903, but it's so worn it's hard to tell for sure. The Mercs are 1917 & 1923. The trade token is for Keeney's Refresh-Mints - lots of them for sale on ebay. The jar lid is from Pond's Extract Co. and dates from 1914 to probably the...

    ground-coin

Just used Ground-Coin for the first time last weekend. I was using it in conjunction with Fast-Off and Deep-On. Seemed to work pretty good. Any suggestions/tips form those who have used it? Thanks.

    processing speed

A question for the experts -- Which will provide faster processing time? Running in Auto +3 (let's say the sensitivity number showing in auto +3 is 22) or running in manual at an equivalent sensitivity (in this example 22) with everything else being the same?

    Hoodoo Mojo

Got out early this morning for a couple of hours and hunted a park I've been working on for the past couple of months. Found this good luck charm and 1939D Washington Quarter along with seven wheats. One of the wheats, a 1937D, was laying right on top of the ground; didn't have to do anything...

    two firsts

Had two firsts in the same day last Saturday. Found my first Barber quarter (1915D) and buffalo nickel (1920) with the CTX. To make it even sweeter, they were in the same hole. They were 6 to 6.5 inches deep and gave a 11-41 signal. Didn't find much else, but I'm not complaining.

    interesting day

Had a somewhat eclectic day of metal detecting today. Found seven wheats including a 1913D, 1917, 7 1919; a 1946D Roosevelt dime; the usual assortment of modern coins; and two unusual items. The first is a small, round aluminum container between the size of quarter and half dollar that reads...

    Whatsit

I found these two items in the same hole, 7-8" deep in a local park on Memorial Day. They appear to be sterling silver but are not marked. I filed a deep notch into the back of the long piece and it shows no sign of being silver plated as the color is the same throughout. The oval piece weighs...

    3rd times the charm

Well, my first two outings with the CTX were best described as less than stellar. However, I did get permission to hunt a house that was built in 1949 last Sunday and made it over there this evening. Found seven wheats, all in the 50s except one 1944, a 1920 Mercury dime (worn down to point of...

    1st outing with CTX

Took the new CTX out for the first time this morning. Purposely went to a small area that I pounded with the E-Trac (found 48 wheats, one buffalo, and 13 silver dimes) so I could see if the CTX would find anything the E-Trac missed. I mostly used the stock coin program, but also tried the Gone...

    took the plunge

Thanks to everyone for their honest opinions of the CTX and with that help I took the plunge yesterday and bought the CTX. A big thanks to Bart, at Big Boys Hobbies, for a smooth purchase. Got the CTX assembled last night (did anyone else have trouble getting the coil cable up through the...
