I’m beginning to think this little guy will remain a mystery. But, not for lack of trying..

No other pieces around it that we know of. I’m thinking perhaps it was a cover to something. It looks “Pilgrim-ish”. Quite baffling.

    Beach Hunter ID

Sounds a wee bit strange that a new never used machine would be missing parts. It is a great water detector. If your on the East coast contact Centerville Electronics in Manassas Va. They are handling repair work for Whites detectors. Not sure, but you may have to have them replace the seal...

    Never get old

Good one Dancer. Get’n up there in the years myself. Everyone of my toes and fingers have been damaged by psoriatic arthritis. I intend to live forever though. So far, so good. I do get nervous though when I see a hearse in the rear view mirror...

Iron Bottom opened back up from being sanded in for over a week

I think it’s safe to say the beach changes with every tide cycle. Depending on wind direction & storm activity, cross cutting surf can create opportunities by churning up and removing the soft sand and exposing the hard bottom were the good stuff lies and is detectable IMHO. Congrats Dancer.
