    I own from new a whites 6000 di pro.Resister R96 is smoking.I think it's 33 ohms.Any help as to what could cause this.Unit isn't working.

It's a 0.33Ω current sense resistor, at the input of a switching boost regulator. There are two probable causes; (1) the switching regulator itself is blown or (2) something downstream from the regulator has shorted. You should hope for #1 as it is far easier to find & fix. Centerville is...

    v3/v3i

Yes, the 'i' sticker means it was upgraded to a V3i.

    Garrett deep seeker coin finder

That is a VLF/TR design; in VLF mode you can ground balance but you can't discriminate, in TR mode you can discriminate but can't ground balance. It was made 1978-79 and sold for $329 with 2 coils ($1600 in 2025 dollars). In its day it was a decent detector, but Bounty Hunter & White's had...

    AH mini

It's an off-resonance design made in the late 70s. Depth is very lacking, probably only a collector would want this and the price is rather high. Also, the extra coil is for a Bounty Hunter, won't work on the Mini-Pro.

Meter trouble with vintage White's 6000/di series 3

The rotary switch has one pole that controls the mode selection and another pole that controls the meter. So, yes, it's not only possible but likely that one will fail while the other still works.

Meter trouble with vintage White's 6000/di series 3

The problem is the mode switch. It's a big 4-pole rotary/slide switch that eventually wears out, exactly as you are experiencing. Unfortunately it is long ago obsolete and there are no replacements and nothing remotely similar. It is one of the reasons White's ceased making the XL-Pro around...

    Tesoro coils

Looking for the 8x9 and 10x12 concentrics for 10/12kHz models (5-pin). Might also consider coils for the 17kHz models (4-pin).

    I have a v3i question

9.5V is getting close to the cut-off point. What is the voltage reading on the new batteries?

    pi pinpointers

Any pinpointer can crosstalk with any detector, it all depends on the precise frequencies they are running which vary slightly, unit-to-unit, so it's a statistical thing. The F-Pulse includes a frequency offset selection just in case.

    pi pinpointers

I'm biased but I think it's really good. The very first production units had some problems but that got ironed out. As Yogi Berra would say, "it's got deep depth." The only pinpointer that I think is better is the White's TRX, but I'm biased with that one, too.

    TinyTec Deluxe pinpointer diagram

The TinyTec was a modified stud finder. It's possible the guy who made them didn't have a schematic.

    Part for V3i / XLT/ DFX ( Pictures)

Centerville should have it, if not it's a Switchcraft SL105M. I tend to doubt this is your problem.
