Detecting in the North during winter

I will be traveling to Vail, Colorado late January for a week. Not sure if I should even consider bringing my metal detector. What is the drawback to winter detecting? The ground to hard or the snow to deep? Living in the deep South, snow and cold weather is not an issue.

    T2 Test Bed

In order to quicken my learning curve with the T2, I've decided to build me a test bed using the following items and coins: Nickle (70s era and new) Dime (70s era and new) Penney (wheat & and new zinc) Quarter (70s era and new) Pull tab Rusty bottle cap Rusty nail Some Tin Slaw combination of...

    T2 companion video manual

Just watched the Fisher F75 companion video manual. Fischer did a great job of explaining the display menu and showing how to set up the F75 for detecting. Does anyone know if there was a T2 version made? The person I spoke with at Bounty Hunter was new with the company. He did not know if one...

Any T2 users in the Austin, TX area?

Looking to see if there are any T2 users in the Austin, TX area. This metal detector has a high learning curve and I was hoping to see one in action and get some user advice. I know of several spots we could detect on that are full of stuff (coins, relics, and junk). My detector should be back...

Detecting under power and phone lines.

I have a While XL Pro, which works great 99.9% of the time. However, whenever I get near a low hanging power line it will start acting up. Is there a different coil to deal with this interference? I like to detect around old homes, which is where I have this problem. Any help would be...

    T2 help needed

Just unpacked a new T2 I bough about 2 years ago. I know it is been a long time, but I have been using a Whites XL Pro that I have mastered. Anyway, I put in the batteries and I can not seem to get it to do anything. The display completely lights up with information. I have 8 back triangles on...

    Odd find

Just started detecting again after a 2 year lull. My nephew owns a small home built around 1940 in Luling, TX. 30 minutes into my search I found what turned out to be a "1910 Excelsior Shoe for Boys medal". It is in terrific shape. Attached is a link describing this coin...

    A MD Mystery?

Been meaning to post this question for a while. Very often I will get a strong repeatable signal of a coin in the ground. I will start digging the hole and eventually lose the signal. I carefully check the pile of dirt to see if it contains the coin, but it does not. After a few more attempts I...

    Standing Liberty Quarter

Found my first Standing Liberty Quarter this weekend. Had my XL Pro on max discrimination since the field was riddled with pull tabs. Also found a 1962 Mexican peso. Circle C Digger

    Arkansas - second 1917 dime!

Found my second 1917 Mercury dime in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a bit beaten up, but what the heck. Found it in an open lot down town. Read an earlier posting that it is a $10K fine for detecting with out permission in Arkansas. Is this for real? Circle C Digger

    Playa del Carmen

Found some nice jewelry at Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. A Gold and Silver bracelet, a gold wedding ring and plenty of Mexican and European coins. Not bad for about 3 hours worth of detecting. Circle C Digger

    T2 backlight

Found a great 3 LED light that can be easily attached to the detector with velcro tape. Works great as a back light. Provides more than enough light to see the display menu even when it is pitch dark. Circle C Digger

    T2 settings help please

I've only used my T2 for about 4 hours at the same location. My problem is that everything I've been digging up registers as a dime or quarter (80 t0 91)on the meter. It can be a piece of a rusted can, aluminum scrap, pennies, dimes or a quarter. However, Nickles and pull taps read correctly. Is...

New Whites PI detector with discrimination?

Has anyone heard about a new PI with discrimination being developed by Whites? I read a blurb about this today on a UK forum talking about next generation PI detectors. They mentioned it would be a less costly alternative to the current models being developed. Sure would be nice. I"ll start...

    The Adonis

Just saw an add about the Adonis. It is believed to be the first PI machine with full discrimination. You can even use an usb port to download the latest firmware updates direct from your PC. Anyone know more about this detector? Looks like it will be available next month for $1500 Euros...
