    January Hunt/Search Coil Analysis

If this is global warming, I like it! The weather here in Ohio was just too nice yesterday. I had to get out there and do some detecting and try out my new 6x8 SEF Butterfly coil. I took it to a place I've hunted many times and wanted to see if it would pull some keepers out of the ground. I...

    Did you buy anything yet?

Those newer coins sure add up after a year of hunting. Have you bought anything with the newer coins you found in 2009? Maybe you sold one or some of your finds and made even more money. Did you buy anything of interest you'd like to share with us? Got any plans to buy something? C'mon now...

    Mid December Silver!

This unusually warm day was a treat. I never expected to be metal detecting in mid December. Wonders never cease. I hunted a park today and, let me tell you, the ground was very wet and muddy. My gloves were so muddy and torn from the hunt I just threw them away. My first good find was a 1912d...

    Todays hunt

Today I hunted a park and managed to get four Mercury dimes. Here's a closer look: Here they are cleaned up a bit more: Here's a video of the hunt for anyone who would like to see the dimes come out of the ground: Park Hunt Take Care & Happy Hunting! Dan

    City Park Hunt

Today I hunted a park located in the middle of a city. I figured the park had to be as old as the city. When I got there the first thing I noticed was a lot of big, old trees with exposed gnarly roots. To me that means no fill dirt...original ground! :clapping: My first find was a Wheaty...

    My E-trac died!!!

My E-trac wouldn't turn on today. I followed the troubleshooting steps in the Instruction Manual. When that didn't work, I called Minelab. They told me to send it in. Made a video so people can follow along. Dan More to come.....

Hunting with 15x12 S.E.F Butterfly Coil

I've been having a good time hunting with the 15x12 s.e.f. butterfly coil. I consider it a clean-up coil. After I've pounded an area with the Pro coil, I bring out the big 15x12 to get anything I may have missed. Yesterday I took it to a place I've hit hard twice with the Pro coil and never...

Ordered the 15x12 S.E.F. Butterfuly Coil

Gotta new toy coming. Took the big plunge today and ordered the 15x12 s.e.f. butterfly coil. I should have it by the weekend. Can't wait to try that bad boy out! :detecting:

    Need Some Coil Advice

I hunt with the stock Pro coil but want to get a new coil. I'm thinking about buying a 15x12 s.e.f. but I'm also curious about the 10x12 s.e.f. and the 16" Excelerator. I hunt for coins in parks, fields and school yards. I'm thinking the 15x12 will get me down deeper than the Pro coil and the...

    Coil Advice Needed

I'm thinking about buying a 15x12 s.e.f. coil for my E-trac. Does anyone else have one? I'm wondering if it gets much more depth than the stock coil. Do you think the 18x15 s.e.f. would be better? I'm leaning toward s.e.f coils because they have great target separation and accurate...

    Discrimination Pattern Question

I've had my E-trac for almost 3 months. I have been using the default discrimination pattern with the exception that I notched in silver dollars. My primary interest is coinshooting. I like finding old coins. I've found silver coins but I wonder if I'm missing more because I haven't opened...

    Sunday field hunt

I dug a total of 53 coins. Included in that total is a 1944 Wheat Cent and a 1947 Washington Quarter. I also dug a .925 silver ring. Had a great time but eventually the sun got the best of me. Dan

    Hunting in All Metal

Just wondering if anyone hunts without any discrimination at all. I just watched a video of a guy hunting in all metal in a supposedly hunted out park. He got a small high pitched signal for just a moment and then it disappeared and he got nothing but an iron signal. He dug to investigate the...

    1903 Barber Dime with error

Yesterday while hunting a park I found a 1903 Barber Dime. The "1" from the date is missing. It appears to be a mint error. I'm not sure if it's worth more or less because of the error but it's an interesting find. It's in pretty decent shape. Good detail. You can see all the letters of...
