    Pinpointers What’s your favorite?

We have (3) Garrett black pinpointers, (2) Garrett Carrots, and (1) of the shaft mounted obsolete ones that everyone wants, can't think of the name.. One of the black Garretts has been back for repair twice, and I think one of the carrots has been back once.

Taking others with you Metal Detecting

We typically hunt as a family, and we all scout spots. I'm 63, and I typically detect with my younger brother and my mom, we enjoy hunting as a team. Yes, my mom, and she's one of the most die-hard detectorists that you will ever meet! I have detected with others and as previously said, there...

How many remember the very first detector you started the hobby with and how long ago ??

I had (2) Jetcos, a GTX Huntmaster and I think the second one was a Treasure Hawk and just as you said, the coil failed. It was a molded plastic coil with a chrome plug having 3 pins on it to plug it in.

How many remember the very first detector you started the hobby with and how long ago ??

In 1972 I bought a Jetco GTX Huntmaster, I was 12 years old, that's what started it all for me. We had a couple of Whites and a Heathkit in the family, but I found the long-lost grandmothers 13 diamond ring with the cheapest detector of the bunch! 51 years later, here I am, still detecting!

    OAK ISLAND

Gary is interesting but I don't think that Gary has any skills on me or us. His swinging technique isn't all that, he's just a guy with a good detector that wants to help. He does apparently have some background of some good finds, but Britain is a place to find some real old "top pocket" finds...

Long handle metal detector shovel recommendation

I have a 36" Lesche T handle digger with serrated edges. I've owned it for at least 10 years and its as strong and sharp as it ever was. Having degenerated discs L1 and L2, it doubles as a walking stick, I couldn't detect without it. It also makes a nice self-defense weapon if you ever need one...

Have you ever had hostility from people while You Detect.

I had one instance where I was parked alongside the road two women showed up in a huff. They were afraid that we were going up on the hill behind their house. They refused to leave until we got back in my truck and left. They were both pretty belligerent and bold, but we did manage to get some...

    Coin spill

CONGRATS! I know the excitement, I once found (3) Franklin halves in a spill. I knew at that moment that my season was made and it was all downhill from there. To my suprise, I found my first and only silver dollar the very next weekend.... THEN my season was over.

Anyone Still Using The 70 or 705?

I had a 705 gold pack for years, it was a great machine, a real silver magnet. I moved up to a Etrac a few years back to get into multi frequencies. I see a lot of names on this forum that I haven't seen in years. I held onto my 705 until about 6 months ago when I sold it. I kept it as a backup...

Has anyone tried the Etrac environmental cover with a visor?

So I did receive my new control box cover all the way from Ukraine. It's very well made, not regretting my purchase, but it did very little for my inability to see the screen. The heavy material with a zipper down the back and Velcro under the control box, coupled with a clear screen that's not...

    Incredible Month

WOW, 700 silvers from one park, I haven't found 700 silvers in all the years I've been detecting! That's quite the accomplishment! Done for the year, I hope not. Buy yourself some of those small chemical hand warmers and stuff them in your gloves! Here in PA we get an occasional hunt worthy day...

    Discrimination 47-48, yes or no?

I guess that I should clarify a bit... my upper numbers are open all except the upper right discrimination line. The factory discrimination pattern has 46-50 in the top right corner masked out. I see many who have posted their pattern have it discriminated, some don't.

    Another new minelab????

With a display that you can see!
