    Deus finds two Indians

While out shopping for a new printer yesterday, I stopped at the site of an old hotel that's long gone. Since I just happened to have my XP Deus with me, I figured I'd spend 10-15 minutes of unplanned detecting. Within 10 minutes the XP found a 1902 Indian and another Indian too corroded to...

Joined the XP club and also found silver

I broke down and ordered myself an XP Deus with WS4 Backphones and the 9" coil. It arrived today via UPS delivered to work. I brought it up to my office and charged the unit up and waited for quitting time to roll around... Right from work, I drove to a park that I've been hunting regularly...

    Weird thing. What is it?

Found this today. I have NO idea what this could be. Not even any guesses. It's in great shape though! Any ideas? Thanks! John

E-Trac finds silver twice this weekend!

After a completely dry summer with no decent finds, I scored silver twice this weekend: [attachment 318967 silver.jpg] The quarter was found next to an old stone swimming pool from the 50's and the ring was near the roadside near an old house in my area... John

    Finally got an E-Trac!

I finally broke down and bought an E-Trac. I got it this afternoon and took it out to an old homestead... In short, the E-Trac is a veritable coin magnet! This machine speaks to me and I feel oneness with it... It has found coins where my other detectors have not. Way to go Minelab...

Got a new Racer! I like!

It's been a dry summer for me as far as finds and I was getting frustrated. Since everything around here has been pounded to death, I figured a new detector might help. After hemming and hawing and weeks of research I got my new Makro racer last week. So far I'm very impressed with this unit...

    Vehicle temperature?

I ended up with a bum Super 12 after leaving it in a hot car. I proceeded to open it up and found the nulling wire is set in place with hot glue. That said, I would endeavor to keep your coils out of the heat... John

Turning an alkaline pack into a 2500 mAH NiMH pack

Glad you like the mod! You'll be pleasantly surpized how long those 2500 mAH cells run. They keep going, and going, and going... Well, you know the rest.....

    Bug Spray on my screen!

I used Back to Black on the whole machine, including the screen protector and the painted electronics enclosure. My screen protector sustained only slight damage from the bug spray. It's completely transparent and the damage is invisible now. Here's what I would do if it were my unit (and...

    Bug Spray on my screen!

Rubbing alcohol is OK to try too. I tried that on mine to attempt to remove the bug spray damage - it didn't work. However, while rubbing alcohol doesn't dissolve or soften the plastic, it does tend to remove any remaining mold release oils from the plastic's surface that give it that...

    Bug Spray on my screen!

Duclaw, While I haven't used Erik's recommendation of Un-Do, my experience with adhesive removers is that they are orange oil or petroleum distillate based compounds which definitely attack certain plastics. The insecticide spray also has petroleum based compounds. That said, seeing how the...

    Bug Spray on my screen!

Don't use adhesive remover! It will melt the plastic and make it worse. I did exactly the same thing with bug spray. The bug spray attacks the plastic. I used Mother's Back to Black (available at auto parts stores) to restore the plastic. It worked very well. So much so that I used it on...

Got a New never used Vision today

I've got mine tweaked to detect plastic and wood. With the Super 12 coil, the iron planet core interferes with coins 6 or more feet deep. Since my backhoe is broken, I cannot use the super 12. In all seriousness though, I used a v1.0 Vision for a few weeks. While it had a few...

    Customer Service says a lot about a company . . . .

Teckpro, I thought you had a coil problem? Did this turn out to be the case? In any case, I'm glad White's came though for you and you're happy. Give me a shout if you'll be off from work on a weekend - I'd like to go detecting again... John
