    Gold or a fool

I just found an old ring today at a park that goes back to civil war times that is stamped with"solidxgold". It sure looks like gold and has the weight. Can anyone tell me anything about this? Here is a pic of the inside. There is another stamp next to the "solidxgold" that looks like an "S"...

    Wishing on a D

I made two quick 30 minute hunts, each produced silver, which is always welcomed...but why couldn't the Merc have a D mintmark - bummer. Oh well, maybe next time right!

    Sunday hunt - hat trick

Got out for a sunday hunt with a good friend. The ground is getting better in some areas up here. Took home a hat trick of Mercs, 1919, 1941, 1943.

2011 Spring hunt with Bob - Seated, Barber, Mercs and so on

Well as Bob said in his post, we try to hook up twice a year with each other for a week of hunting. Spring by him, Fall by me. I always have so much fun hanging with my cousin Bob, especially when we are metal detecting together. My Uncle Al (his father) taught us the Jedi ways of this hobby...

I could use help in identifying a Token I found today

Hey guys, I found this token today while hunting an old area, in fact I found a 1903 Indian Head penny only 10 feet from it. The token is slightly larger than the IH but much heavier. On one side it has the intials G.C. and on the other side it say 299. Sorry I didn't take a picture of the...

My first V-Nickle in over 20 years and more

It all started with a few hour hunt yesterday. Right away I dug a nice sounding 1906 Indian Head and knew I better slow it down a bit. Not long after that I found my second Indian head a 1905. After digging a handful of wheaties and some junk and about an hour and half later, I got an...

    Big Silver and even Bigger....

So I was able to get out for a few hours and hunt with some friends today. It was my first time hunting at this park even though practically everyone with a metal detector within 50 miles has hit it over the past 30 years. The finds are few and far between and between. It's the kinda place...

Weeks finds include Barber, Button and Injuns

Finally was able to get out a handful of times now that rain washed away the snow. Got some keepers out of it. Can anyone identify the button? It was found a very old park that has done me well from time to time. It is tough to make out the writting, I can't see what the left side of...

Hunting in dress clothes pays off

I stole a few minutes after work and did some dirt fishing at a local tiny park near my job. I knew my wife was making dinner and I didn't have a lot time but I just had this urge to go. I had been to this spot before a few times and have pulled a couple injuns before and it isn't a very large...

Just found my oldest U.S. coin yesterday

I haven't posted or even been online in a while. This summer has been flying by and I haven't been able to get out much in the last month or two. My father was in bad car accident and I took some time to go see him. The good news is that my father is going to be alright so I thought I would...

    Last two hunts

Well I was able to get out this past weekend for a little on Saturday and Sunday. Sorry James, wish I could of made it on Sunday but I did manage to get out locally with Joel aka Crispytoo for a while on Sunday. However, I am glad to hear that park that I suggested produced a few nice ones for...

First Seated Dime....and a cool Indian Head

You will also want to read Ron's posts about his St. Paul trip this last weekend. This hunt wouldn't of been possible without him. I ended up contacting Chicago Ron when I saw he was in town. I don't live very far from the twin cities and thought it would be great together. We planned on...

Got in a short hunt and found a tribe

I was able to sneak in a 2 hour hunt today at a large "hunted out" park by me. I pulled 4 Indian Heads in a small area and a few wheaties one being a 1911 with a hole in it. Then injuns were all within a 4 foot radius. They all pretty much sounded horrible and bounced all around the screen...

9 Silver week that includes a 2 Barber Quarter day

What a great week. My cousin Bob aka DrBobinMo came to visit for a few days of hunting. We had a BLAST and I always love spending time with him not matter what we are doing, especially detecting. This trip was especially neat because we had very little home obligations and were able to go...

    First mutiple Barber Day ever

Two weeks ago I had a great hunting expereince at a park I had never been to before. Life has been so busy I just got a moment to post this. Anyway, I stopped a little park in the middle of nowhwere. I was out in this area researching an old ghost town that I plan on hitting later this week...
