Most Hated Words for a beach detectorist....

In the mid nineties almost all my rings found were gold with some platinum and some silver. And then the tungsten carbide and titanium rings started showing up. I recently came back from vacation and found 22 rings. Only 11 were gold , 6 of those were only 10 carat. However the other 5 were 14k...

    Excal does good !!!

I do enjoy my excal , bought it used locally a few years ago for $900. It paid for itself first time out with it . Previously used a CZ20 which was also very good but I dropped it and never got it repaired.

    Excal does good !!!

Yes , rocks can be difficult and frustrating. There’s a beach I sometimes hunt that is probably full of gold due to the vacationers but it’s rocky and the water a bit choppy . I’ve only ever recovered 2 gold rings there .

    Excal does good !!!

i don’t remember what brand mine is but it has withstood a lot of punishment over the years. I have a sunspot too but not a travel version. Maybe I’ll look into getting a travel handle for that one . Cheers

    Excal does good !!!

Just spent last two weeks at a holiday resort and found 21 rings. 11 are gold , some have diamonds. My scoop broke last week and I got it welded at the resort but it finally snapped off this morning. Can’t complain I’ve had it for 20 years

    Fisher CZ20 needs repair

I believe it is an 8" coil I haven't used it for ages but it was a great detector underwater with a snorkel , I found dozens of gold rings !!

    Fisher CZ20 needs repair

Does anyone know if Fisher still repair CZ20's ? I have left a couple of messages but have had no reply from Fisher. I dropped my control box on hard surface and it broke something inside . Been using my Excel ever since .

Can Dogs hear our metal detectors ?

I don’t know about dogs hearing our metal detectors but years ago I was detecting underwater in about 5’ water in the Caribbean all by myself at a resort early in the morning when I was surprised by a Dolphin approaching me and looking at me face to face for at least a minute, which seemed like...

    Excalibur strikes again !

Had an hour in the water yesterday, found a few coins initially then got 7 rings in the last 30 minutes. Would have stayed longer but was feeling cold . The engagement ring is 18k white gold.

Minelab Equinox 800 - Civil War Relic Hunting - Finding What the other Detectors Missed

I found a bunch of coins from the 30's and 40's on my own front yard with the EQ800 that I had gone over multiple times before with other detectors over the years !!

    Man drowns while metal detecting

There's a picture of him in the water on a news website. He's wearing a wet suit but no scuba gear. !0 feet is a bit too deep imo to free dive if you're metal detecting. I would have at least used a hookah rig at that depth or alternatively stick to a depth where you can stand up and breath if...
