Machine could not make up its mind on this target

First I was getting a dime type signal. Got the target out of the hole into a wet mound of sand. Re-scanned the sand and got a gold type signal. It's both! The silver ring has an engraving inside, which means I'm obligated to track down the owner, heh? But, I'm keeping the gold ring...

Pounding the pounded turf for 2.5 hrs

It had been too long since I was out. But boy, are my fingers sore. :stretcher: The ground down here is rock hard now and 8-inch deep coins feel like they are TWO FEET deep! Three consecutive targets. Three mercs! My first consecutive target silver trifecta. Had a nice 2.5 hr hunt, still...

:laugh:Finding the silver co-located with trash: my best example

I found a little erosion line at one of my favorite beaches recently, lots of exposed rocks and some older targets. Swinging with the ETrac, I got a nice silver (12-46) signal and pulled this out of the sand: Does that count as one target? Or two? I was a little confused at this point...

Spare coil bolts, nuts, and a "coil brake" for E-Trac?

Where do people buy these from? Didn't see them at kellyco, etc. I'm especially interested in buying something called a coil brake to prevent flopping of the coil when it gets wet. Or do I simply remedy this by tightening the nuts a bit more? Many thanks. - Jim

First digs with the E-Trac - San Diego surf and turf

The beach erosion at San Diego beaches was great at some spots and at others, the waves merely dragged sterile high berm sand down onto the normal wet sand areas. I didn't score any gold during this storm , but pulled a nice silver ring with a diamond (which has the right sparkle to it - I...

Any Southern California Infinium Beach Users out there?

I've yet to see one on the San Diego beaches where I hunt. Just curious, and So Cal Infinium beach hunters out there? How does the machine handle our iron-rich sands? HH - Jim

Pumpkin Patch strikes again! V-Nickel, Ring, Token, China, Skeleton key

Gosh, I love this site. I have been pounding this site since Feb. '08 - over 40 hunts there now. Often, I'll go 2-3 hours without a single keeper...but I've never ever given up on this place. Everything at this site with a date on it has been between 1897 and 1925, including coins, fuses with...

    F75 2F tones - ok I believe....

I've long been an advocate of using Delta Pitch in the turf for deep silver, but I kept hearing about the merits of 2F tones, especially in iron-rich sites. Did a little 2F hunting last night at a field that I've now hunted 43 times (about 2 hrs each hunt). It's a 1920's era dump site from an...

Being 'wrong' is the only way I learn...never say NEVER

Got out to a new site with my buddy Bill yesterday, part of an old military base, now woods. First target was a 50 cal shell, biggest I've dug yet, and we knew we were in the right area. The area gets a little bit of modern use as a running trail and party spot, so clad coins were popping up...

GOOD FOR ONE DRINK OR CIGAR - N. TERRILL'S SALOON SAN SIMEON, CAL.

Hey gang, I was fortunate enough to dig an old saloon token a couple of days ago and get some background information on it. N. Terrill was 'Newell' Terrell, born in 1852 and died in 1896. He had a saloon in the very small town of San Simeon, which today has a population of less than 500...

Revisiting the War Nickel ID on the F-75

Awhile ago, there was a thread here about what war nickels ID as on the F-75. I had said that they ID'd as high tones in the ground, but a little lower once you had them out of the ground. A few people replied, saying that their machines ID'd war nickels right around '31'. Well, I dug another...

    Changing frequencies on the F75

This might be old hat to some, but may be useful to those with less experience on this unit. I was detecting an area and wandered towards some power lines and began getting ZZZZZZIPPPPPP ZZZZZZIIIIPPPPPP interference. I remembered that I had the option to change operating frequencies on this...
