Good evening everyone. I have a simple question that I'm very interested in. I have been learning about civil war history a little deeper. I'm intrigued by it. My question is why are C.S.A. items more prized? I'm just curious.

I think they are more rare and difficult to find. There are also more counterfeits. That's what I read a long time ago.
I hope someone has more information than me.

Highlifter, a Little knowledge is all I got. Lol The reason Confetrit' items and relics are more valuable is simply because they were so fewer of items such as belt plates, and buttons that were produced and manufactured for the Confederacy. A lot of rifled muskets such as the Enfield rifle, and again buttons and other items were imported from Britain for the trade of cotton from the South. By mid war the Federal Army had put a stranglehold on Southern ports, not letting cotton get out to Britain for trade for much needed supplies for the South, and not letting these items come into our Southern ports. By mid war not many Johnny Rebs looked the same in their manner of dress. Dyes needed for the uniforms could not be had, so the Southern Soldiers became known as the "Butternut" brigades. A brown or a variance of shade of brown that came from making dyes from nuts. A lot of the Confetrit's would be wearing a lot of homespun clothing sent to them from their homes and families. It is Amazing at how long the South was able to fight as well as they did for 4 long years against an army that had the numbers, the armament, the foundaries, provisions, and Everything that is needed to keep an army rolling and afoot. In my personal opinion, there will never again be an Army such as that of the Confederate States of America. To again, accomplish so very much with so very little. I hope this helped a little. For us relic hunters, to find a Confetrit' artifact or piece, even a bullet is a real Thrill because they are more rare and fewer.

I completely agree. Without getting into political issues ...;)(y) I am a foreigner

Confetrit, I think you nailed it.
Thanks, Wild Willy. It is truly hard to try to put into words and explain the hardships that the Confederate Army and the Southern people as a whole endured throughout that horrible war. The Nation as a whole suffered with a loss of over 620,000 American lives. I know it was probably a poor attempt on my part to explain this, but I tried.

Thank you so much.

WW1 and WW2 have changed the whole world, and the astonishing part of life is that nobody knows much about it. I also don't know much about it, but then I get to know about World Conquer 3 game where everything is depicted in a very good manner, you should play it and get to know about the history.

I live in the uk and even here we have many reminders of ww2.I live close to beaches where troops from here and from the US used to practice for D Day......there are many concrete structures behind the beaches in the dunes such as mock up landing craft and small bunker like buildings, quite fascinating.
The place is called Braunton Burrows and was the official US assault training center from 1943 until the invasion of Normandy.

Booty, the south was basically an agricultural society and the north was being swept with the industrial revolution. I've read in numerous books that only about 10% of Confederate soldiers owned a slave. So, why would the other 90% fight for the slave owners? It had to do with states rights, taxes, congressional control and yes, slavery, particularly those that would benefit from a "quick and decisive war" over the north. Big mistake!! You simply can't fight a war with cotton. I was also amazed the war lasted so long. Industry, population and propaganda, backing the right cause, will succeed every time.
