Too warm not to get out today I think we had a new record for December 15. Pretty slim pickin but fine day got my 1st Williams Cleaner 20211215_182223.jpg
 
I have some older 45 cal bullets here where we play but no idea how to identify them. 390 gr lead, most of the cases are 45-60 or 45-70. I guess I need to bone up on this if we are going to continue to find them!!

They were fired. They had zinc washers between the bullet and base that were supposed to clean the barrel when the round was fired. I don't know if it is true but I read where the Union soldiers were hesitant to use them in battle because they caused infections in the wounds they made.

Thanks for the answer. Another great example of why Civil War objects are so thought provoking . Pop a 64 rosie and most won't stop and think who was affected and why. Something from these battlefields of the states, different story.
