Well, given the location have another guess, the bird resembles a WW2 German eagle. That type of design was adopted in the mid 30s by the Wehrmacht, doesn't look too old, so best guess its some kind of metal motif design, busted up and lost between 1941-43 when the German Army was fighting in/around that area. Any WW2 relics you found nearby?

That's a good guess, there looks to be a skull under the eagle. Nothing else from that era, all ancient from Roman times, will post more items I found later

I was thinking along the same lines as a German Eagle.
 
Sorry Annalisa still can't see the eagle clearly, you must do a magnified closeup pic on the eagle only, so it's very clear, The NSDAP eagle was used widely, not only militarily but much ingrained within contemporary culture of the times within Germany, eventually the Greater German Reich. Some would say seeing this icon on objects represents not the NSDAP's stamp of approval and as means to keep within the hearts and minds of the German people the strength of National Socialism and the Fuhrer in all things, hence you see it almost everywhere from lighters, pencils, paper, art objects, etc. Though this may not be NSDAP-related, it could be, the Greek design-like motif lends it to me to be possibly related to the 1936 Olympics, but I'm stretching it a bit, just brainstorming. But the location of the find is a strength in terms of identifying as an early 1940s lost German relic, possibly carried by someone in the German military. Good luck.

Almost looks like the tabs on the bottom were made to fit into something. Does there appear to be extra wear along the faces and bases of the tabs? For that matter, there appear to be two more tabs on top - one near the prone figure’s wrist and one broken tab at the same figure’s heel.
