Garrett AT max VS Nokta Legend

Looking for a detector for my son that is better than his equinox 600. Was looking at the nokta legend and the garrett AT max or pro. Anyone own these that can compare them for me? Looking at which provides more tonal information and better target separation/identification. Thanks

The equinox 600 does all that. Personally I’d have him stick with the 600 but that’s just me.

I currently have the AT Pro and have own the AT Max. Never owned a Legend…
I have used the AT Pro for many years and is a dynamite machine with the 5x8” coil. And it has made some bucket list finds! In my opinion, it’s not a depth monster but in the first 6” maybe 7” with the 5”x8”, it can sniff out the treasure in junk trash and iron filled environments. Good luck in your decision.

To me, the AT detectors and the Legend both present more stable TID numbers and have more consistent tones than the 600. As for target separation in trash, the 600 and the Legend are a little better than the ATs with the stock coil.
Thanks so much!!!!

I started with an At Pro. Great machine. From what I read the Max was sorta of a step down from the AtPro, kinda like IMO the 900 was from the 800 which I have a combined usage of over 6 years on both. I had read the Max was quite unstable in many environments. as is the 900. Which brings us to the Legend, while I have less than a hundred hours on it and am not willing to say its a better machine than the 800, but it will hunt. Heres what I can say, the 800 is finished, as far as updates, it is what it is, and there is speculation it will be discontinued in favor of the 900. A mistake IMO as I know a couple guys that have went back to their 800s after using the 900 and Manticore. Now the Legend with its many settings and updates is a machine on the rise and has room to grow and will only get better. The 600 is a good machine and those that think the only difference between it and the 800 is the gold mode. Well let them think that. At this point I would recommend a Legend, the price, coil availability and wide range of settings is a no brainer.
