Equinox 900 readings

I really need some help here.
I don’t know if I have a faulty Equinox 900 or if I am doing something wrong.
I have two issues.

The mode I am using is Parks #1.
I am in a 200-year-old farmhouse that has been in the family for seven generations.
I am in the front yard.
We have no underground pipes or wires here.

My settings.
As I said I am in Parks #1.
I did a factory reset of Parks #1 before I started.
I did my ground balance and noise cancelation.
I have tried my recovery speeds set from 0 to 5 and the issue persists.
I have all metal off.
The problems that I am having are my readings.
I have a phone, but it is in airplane mode with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth both turned off.
I tried to attach a video show this but it will not let me attach a video.

Issue #1.
The readings are not consistent no matter how many times I go over the same spot.
I have tried this in many locations around the front yard and even went to another location and it continues.

Issue #2.
Also, you can see that as the sound changes the readings are not changing. When the readings do change it seems like there is a delay.

I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what I might be doing wrong.
Am I doing something wrong?
I would appreciate any advice I can get.

Do you have another coil to try ?

Install the 6 in. coil. Do a factory reset, Try Field 2. This combo will be more stable than Park 1. If still jumpy try the single frequencies, if it still persists try another location. If that doesn't work contact Minelab. Good luck Mark
 
I was able to go to another site today and the sounds got better, and the readings seems to get better. I still don’t think that they are right. I wish there was someone in my area with knowledge of the Equinox 900 that I could consult (Denmark, Maine).
I did notice two things.

#1, The readings still have about a 4 second delay sometimes after I hear the sound.
Is this a common thing?

#2. I noticed if I bumped my coil against a tree or rock it would give me a reading 63 sometimes.
Does this happen to anyone else?

That delay is not normal…
As far as making a sound when hitting against something, I think that does happen although I try not to let that happen, but it does happen sometimes.
One question… after noise cancelling and ground balancing, are you pushing the detect button to put it back in detecting mode?
Also, did you try running a single frequency to see if you get te sake results?
Just curious.
 
Send it back. Nothing is acting normal and don't waist any more time. They're very good at returning the original fixed or a new replacement. Or at least that is how they treated me with three drowned 800s and 2 drowned 3030s.
 
I have been swinging a 900 for a year and half coming from an etac and the light weight and quick response are a real plus and I have found quite a few silvers with it but this thing is unreliable with its jumpy numbers and tones especially with memorial pennies ( those pennies are all over the place) .
Quarters seem to be spot on 88 or so with consistent tone and clad dimes at 78-81 .
I don't have any problems with a delay, that don't seem right though.

I have threatened to wrap this thing around a tree many times because of those pennies coming in the low 90's. I'm not sure this addresses any of your problems but maybe it will help knowing someone else is not real happy with the 900 but I'm still swinging it though.

Just curious how it responds to nickels?
I used one for a short time, but do not recall pennies giving the high signals you mentioned.
As far as nickels, I found the TID to jump around quite a bit…. Much more than my 800 anyhow.
 
I found that if the 900 locks on at 26-27 it is probably a nickel but have also found em from 23- 29 but most often it is can slaw .
Yeah those memorial pennies are terrible, me and my cousin each bought a 900 from Richard and he experiences the same results .

I am definitely no expert on the 900 not having one, but the symptoms you are describing I have experienced on numerous machines through the years. I have almost always found that my coil lead has not been securely tightened, I will have a broken ground wire in the lead, a nick in the lead, or dirt, sand under the coil cover. One of my buddies just broke a coil ear off his 800 and I repaired it for him. When I tested it, it was going crazy like yours and I thought I had broken a wire. Turns out he had been to the beach and didn't clean out the coil cover. I did and it found all the silver and other items in my test garden.
