Interesting find made with my Quattro

Found this Chinese coin a couple days ago , I established it is Chinese by checking google images and I believe it is from at least late 1800's but not being able to translate the symbols on the coin itself I cannot tie it down to a certain time period, it actually could be older than that. Thought I would post it to show everybody, it's not something you find very often. Interesting find.

I have found two or three of them around old house sites.
As best as I can recall, the symbols on the ones I have are very similar to yours.

I found a website some years ago to help date the coins I found, but can’t recall the details.
 
they are called Chinese Cash coins I believe and they do go back a few years. Some were only good for a few years and when the Dynasty changed the coins did too. I remember seeing these on charm bracelets and even on jackets.
Chinese cash coins are identified by their round shape with a square hole in the center and inscriptions. The most common type is from the Qing Dynasty, featuring four characters: two denoting the reign period and two indicating "currency". To identify a specific coin, determine the correct orientation (usually with "寶" on the left side of the hole) and then identify the reign title (nianhao) and currency type.
This is a great find as you have a piece of history and seen some go back many years , but there is a few that are worth some money, but don't know which ones. I believe there should be a picture of the different one and what Dynasty they are from, many have only a slight difference so they are hard to tell.

Using the bottom character on your coin, I think it dates from 1821-1850.
I am having trouble with my internet, but as soon I am back up, I will send more information to you.

These turn up everywhere, even here in SWMO. You would think out in California they would be thick. Cool find!
